  • Ohhhh siiiiiiick

  • Always the best pomp on the forum

  • Yep, it's the Kalloy Uno SP-368. Not easy to find, but nice and cheap.
Bell is indeed Spurcycle. Fuck the RockBros knock-offs.

Cheers for all the comments, this bike cheers me up every time I ride it (or mess with it!). I had no idea I'd grow so fond of it.

  • This thing is to finally get a steel fork. Tired of waiting for the perfect straight-bladed segmented just-skinny-enough fork to exist (it doesn't), this NOS gem came up at a jumble for cheap. Cheap enough to get it powder-coated to match my frame and still not even spend half what that fork cost new.
2010 Tange Infinity (Soma?) lugged fork, with the correct A-C measurement.
Whilst I'm down there, I'm gonna swap the front canti brake out for something less shudder-inducing.

  • That's very nice indeed. Consider a fork mounted hanger first: quick, cheap fix.

  • Decision already made, new brake bought. Not keen on fork-mounted hangers for aesthetics.

  • Test-fit for stack height, and I have winter tyres & mudguards to install.

  • Has the gearing changed in 6 years?

  • Yes. Gearing has been messed with plenty!
Started out as a dingle-speed fixed with 2 chain rings, then went SS freewheel (42x17 I think), then the chainring has gradually shrunk in size from 42T down to 38T, and now it has a Dos ENO two-cog 18/16T freewheel.
    Current gearing is 38x18T.

  • Not used to sharing so with a bashful air, here is my build.
With thanks to @cake, @Eejit, @honk and various others from whom I sourced the various bits.
Used as a station bike right now but just about to put some G Ones on it for an extended gravel/canal ride. Such fun.

Gonna put the same post on the other Pomp forum for maximum exposure

  • Installed the mudguards, finally. PDW Full Metal 45mm, neatly tucked over 700x38 Volummys.
Relatively easy to install, despite having to drill the guard at the rear seatstay yoke.
I'll throw up a full bike shot soon, but this is how it looks belly-up:

  • Guards look a bit small for those tyres / rim?

  • Can't provide any caliper readings but the tyres measure 37mm, and the guards are a true 45mm.
These aren't the tyres I intend to run for winter, I just left my fat summer tyres on deliberately to set maximum clearance. Tyres used will likely be GravelKing SKs - either last year's 700x32s or a new set of 700x35s.

  • Too shit looking?

  • No, its just that there is a general Pompino thread, post there or in its own thread. This is specifically for this bike. Otherwise it just gets confusing.

  • got it. soz

  • It's looking real good with the new steel fork!
Love the colour and texture of that paintjob. Gives me ideas for my pomp.
Looking forward to see the finished build.

  • All buttoned up with new PDW mudguards, Paul Mini-Moto front brake & Gino light mount.
Left the 700x38s on for now, clearance is pretty decent.

A perfectly even front fender line was impossible - it's as if the front guard isn't radiused as tightly and accurately as the rear. Nose up all the time. Lowering it at the crown just pushes the whole guard too close to the tyre. Mounting the tab on the back of the crown looked odd.

Rear guard was a pleasure to install, shows how good design is worth the dough.
Supplied anti-rattle pads were installed at every contact point.

Thankful for the threaded CS bridge on the Pompino, a long bolt and some canti pad washers were all that I needed.

  • pad washers

Always good for a hack/bodge spacer.

Lovely bike. Puts every gorgeous baby blue build to shame.

  • pst, mudguard mount should be on rear of fork crown.

  • Ed beat me to it. Another thing that helped me get the curve perfect with mine was the long drop tab that PDW sell separately.

  • I bought that tab with the fenders and didn't yet use it. I might try reinstalling the front fender with the tab at the back, I have some Sheldon nuts on deck.
It looked kinda odd the first time I did it though. The radius of the fender seems too open.
I also like how clean the fork looks at the back currently.

  • Understandable. If you move it to the back you’ll get better road spray coverage though :-)

  • Definitely doable with the long tab + rear mounting to get the curve nice and tight.
