  • That make sense, time to change the as I like the longevity of the standard pads.

  • Stopped the rubbing with two small washers between the adapter and the frame. Spaced the brake just enough to stop the rubbing.
Rear brake seems to be made of cheese, I stripped both the threads with barely any effort, so swapped out the bolts for longer ones and used a nylock nut and thread lock it was a tight fit but it's worked.

New pads have fixed all other problems, one finger skids now.
Did about 20km round town yesterday was very comfortable.

  • Perfect, good to know a couple of washers helped.

  • Out of interest are you thinking of running tubeless on the 650b?

    Bike is looking good.

  • Does anyone made a 650b gumwall tubeless tyre?

  • No idea hence the question. I guess supply and demand dictate they don't however found this:

We’ve had no problems running the “standard” version tubeless. The “extralight” casing is more porous, so it can take a little more patience to seal. I have several friends who have run the Grand Bois Extra Léger tires tubeless…

  • Looking good, which grips are they?

  • Dunno, cheap off SJS, think they were like £7 ? The cork is reallllyyyy tacky, not sure if they'll survive Yorkshire summer...

Clements for this of the fixie/coastee?

  • @spotter @TM

Lovely lovely build(s), thoughts on the grips? Are they "more" comfortable?

I've been very tempted by the ergons with built in bar ends, but HMOG £££££.

  • 5/5 Germans would recommend. I would too

  • The shape is more comfortable as it spread the load on your palm, but they're very firm and doesn't absorb vibration well (not a problem if you run fatties).

  • @spotter Any idea if the Biokork is softer / harder than the normal plastic ergons?

  • No idea sorry.

  • I'm switching the new to me Salsa Vaya from drops to 20mm riser and trigger shifters.

Spending stupid amounts of time trying to decide saddle and grips.

    Silly money: http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/ergon-ergon-gp3-biokork-handlebar-grips-standard-prod28578/

  • It's not sexy, but it is ridiculously good fun.

  • Not a cdf but a day one. Had this set up since last August but just changed it all over to my cc frame....

  • Think I have another pair of the Alt bars here

If you've got those bars I'd definitely buy them, been trying to get some for ages and never had much luck. The Genesis dealers I've tried are telling me they're not available aftermarket.

  • Part no 999793, £24.99. Got meself some tother weekend.

  • I read that you got some earlier in the thread, I just assumed maybe you had some sort of industry connection to get the shop to sell them to you because whenever I've tried I got nowhere. I'll try a different shop and see if they'll order them for me, cheers for the info.

  • No problem. If you can't get em where you are, try keep pedalling manchester, they may post em to you. Great shop run by awesome people.

  • Ditched the 650b idea, but im just making final arrangements for the dynamo.

  • Can you use the supernova rear lights without the front? I thought the front had a AC - DC for the tail light? (http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/supernova.asp)

  • You're right, I miss read an article. I need to pick a different rear, any suggestions?
