  • Hi all,

I have a Vitus 979 frame which unglued recently. I have used it for more than 3 years, and loved it! It is a fantastic frame, light and very fun to ride it.
Does anyone know if it possible to fix it? I mean to re-glue it together? The seat tube is unglued from the bottom bracket, seems quite a common thing of those frames...
Hope someone can help me. Thanks!

  • Literally you can glue it back together using arakdite its an epoxy resin, Google it, main thing is to clean the joint thoroughly. I think the one I saw held in place for a few days using tensioned duck tape or similar. Also as you say the best place for it to fail is at the BB

  • My dad had the same problem with an Alan frame. A friend re-glued it with 2 component glue for aluminium. Indeed he fixed and pressed the lugs for days. You can give it pressure by using a piece of hard foam and clamps.

  • Heres mine bought at weekend cleaned stripped inspected for cracks and new transfers added along with a few new parts , rides like dream , the original glue wasnt as strong as alot of air dried apoxys are today so most industrial glues will do the trick! it was in a right state neglected to take a before photo ! but with patience and lots of elbow grease they come up well !

  • Sorry to pollute this thread
tearing down mine for a change, so if anyone's interested in a black vitus 979 size59 with forks but with a slightly unstuck seattube-BB bond (which I am giving the glue for) MP me!
    Cheers
Sorry again for the OT will do a proper thread once it's finally stripped..

  • I'd be interested if you still have this. A novice so please message me if so. Thanks

  • Great, thanks for the message, let me know. Keen to replace a stolen friend and sounds like this would fit the bill perfectly. Cheers

  • Thats bullshit about them snapping the only one ive ever seen snap was the vitus carbone and that was slammed in the back of a car

  • This one will be on the market soon.
Got an early Durace Chainset to put on it.
Wheels will be Campag 7-sprocket with Omega Strada Hardox Rims.
