the hand non-position certainly didn't help him. But he also seems completely clueless when the Kazak moves up slightly and doesn't react at all.
Madison is crazy enough without resting riders twatting each other around.

I think you're missing the leadup to the full crash. Have a look at it from the far side of the track early in the video. They're belting along and he moves down onto the wheel overlapping a bit when they move up. He does move up but I think loses his balance or runs out of room for it.

  • ^^No prizes for guessing what he's after getting up to.

  • Not even a booby prize?

But they're resting riders at that point, no?

I'm sure he was balling about Borat's mate moving up, but if he's only looking as far as his own front wheel then...WAC.

FFS, sprint numpties commenting on proper racing. They aren't resting riders they're live, several changes at once so the racing string has gone close to the fence. He comes down a little early after swinging off the front, then the overlap stays as the whole string moves up and he doesn't move up enough with it. +1 on the hand position though.

  • Maybe it was just an accident?

It was still quite spectacular though: a perfect 10 for execution, 9.5 for recovery (getting back up) and 10 for having the balls to complete the race with his bum on show!
Puts a new meaning on 'ripped the arse out of the race' ;-)

Thanks for explaining. I didn't watch enough of the clip to catch that (short attention span).

He's even more of a knob for holding the bars like that then!

  • He's also a world champion and professional 6-day rider and certainly one of the top 5 madsion riders in the world. If he came down there, I seriously doubt anyone could have saved it. Regardless of hand position on the bars.

  • it's quite easy to give advice while sitting behind the screen.
    these things can happen. point.

  • I maybe didn't pay enough attention to names and shit but :

Did anyone else think that big thighed German lass who fell off in the Keirin was forced off by some seriously wayward riding by the lass in blue and red? It wasn't mentioned in the commentry but she seemed to cut in 3 or 4 times.

  • ^^Even the very best make mistakes, and he'd probably admit it.
Not sure anyone is giving him advice, merely criticising him. The day a rider is beyond criticism (from anyone) just because they happen to be professional will be a sad day for the progression of the sport.

Didn't see it, but you mean Vogel. The only part I saw she was riding on the cote then came a cropper.

    welcome to LFGSS!

  • Here you go :

    From about 0.29.

    Shovey shovey.

Not saying Vogel with the thighs would have challenged, but she'd have stood more of a chance if still on the bike.

  • The cote dazur can be quite slippery on some tracks, and isn't really designed to be ridden on at those kind of speeds. There was definitely some bumping going on which is why she ended up there.

  • went to see Martyn Irvine when he got back to Dublin airport last weekend, good crowd at it. some media too. should have some nice photos when I get the film developed.
