  • Ok after I sort out my temporary wheels I wanna move towards saving and building this bike's proper wheels.
After riding it at 7.5kg I've realised I don't care too much about it being crazy light.
So now I'm considering going for some 88mm carbon clinchers, what do you guys reckon?

  • there is one rim on ebay, at a v good price
    88mm clincher 18h

  • Link?
Also not sure if 18h would be enough, even being that deep.
    Was thinking 20front and 24rear.

  • How are you measuring those wheels Indra?

  • Such a stirrer lol

I am running a 808 16h and its as strong as my other 36h hoops

  • hhmm, how much do you weigh.

    You really shouldn't.

If I were you, I'd just replaced the part with decent component whatever the weight is.

  • Most of the components are decent apart from the saddle and wheels.

    Thinking possibly these:

If I can save enough money and get them delivered in time for the slave slide.

  • hhmm, how much do you weigh.

I was afraid of this question.

    85kg (a bit over 13 stone)

  • Ah I should be fine then, I'm 12.
But then again chinese carbon≠zipp 404

  • 88mm front and rear is pretty impractical, why not go 60mm?

  • 88mm front and rear is pretty impractical

+1, just go 88mm for the front for this classic hhsb mismatch

  • 60 mm is perfect imo... saying that, my 50s were getting pretty wayward in the wind the other day.

It is and I guess I could do that, probably end up being more though.

I dunno how my OCD would feel about that...

Do you find double 50 to be worse than double hed?

  • "Ed, for christs sake, lowering a saddle is not the answer to everything."

...but wouldn't it be great if it was?

  • Do you find double 50 to be worse than double hed?

    Similar tbh.

  • Similar tbh.

Ok, I managed to ride ok on a pretty gusty day with aerospoke read and hed 3 front but this build is gonna be lighter.

    I've found a decent deal on a 60mm wheelset.

  • +1 on 60mm from me

  • cough Someone should definitely potatochop different wheelsets onto my bike to persuade me cough

  • Upgraded your fork while I was tehre.

  • "Will you look at that, TM have his saddle angled correctly!"

Yep, saddle angle is perfect, just need to raise the back or lover the front of the bike.
