Don't even know if I'll be in London then, but hey. I really wanted to do this ride last year.

August! We'd need to be really unlucky for the weather to pull one over us!

The weather was utter bollocks last time. Barely got out of bed before deciding there was no way I was riding in that!
Can't be worse this year?

I didn't even have the excuse of weather for bailing last time. Would also be up for a recce at some point, preferably a weekend when the wind is in the South West.

Last year I was guilty of pulling back the curtain, seeing the end of days weather and having a full length of spine shudder and returning to the warm embrace of the duvet. Chapeau to the nutters that even considered it. This year will defo be 28 degrees and glorious sunshine, and for that reason I'm in.

I know it's early but what's the sort of timing on this ride ?
Leaving - arriving.... snacking, breaks etc ?
-
• #17
TBC really, but probably meet Brixton about 0800 and pick up clerkenwell 45 mins or so later.
It's a long way to go so will aim not to stop too often - every 30 miles or so depending on how people are feeling. Wil try to coincide stops with cafes en route.

Bump!

Yeah! Bump! I'd forgotten all about this and dicki has been posting his doom and gloom "only 17 more days of summer" stuff in the weather thread so we should do this before the weather becomes what it was last year.

I was in East Anglia over the last Bank Holiday weekend. Couldn't move for bloody windmills. I was loving it!
-

Potentially in. And as an East Anglian native I can tell you that it is always windy...

Just been on the phone to the man himself, looks like the Mill are going to sort out refreshments for us on arrival.
Moulton Mill
Clerkenwell Mill (remains)
Brixton Windmill
Details
A windmill fetishists dream - just over a ton from Brixton Windmill via Clerkenwell Windmill (defunct) to Moulton Mill. An ideal first century - the last 30 miles are probably the flattest riding it is possible to do.
This was on the cards last year for the reopening of Moulton Mill and was epically thwarted by the weather (last year's thread...)
Route on Garmin Connect here.
********UPDATE********
Leaving Brixton Windmill at 0800
Leaving Clerkenwell Mill at 0830
Please remove yourself from the list if you can't make it - I'll be giving approx numbers to the Mill nearer the day so the catering team can plan.
Trains home from Peterborough, either via Spalding or riding direct.
