Commiserations for the 3rd year running...
-
• #2153
Got my acceptance due to deferring last year's sickness, but wife got a commiseration letter...
-
• #2154
Commiserations here too. Three in a row for me as well...
-
• #2155
Commiserations for me, which TBF I'm quite happy about as I didn't really want to do it this year.

I want a "goal" to train for because I fucking knuckled down and got fast last year but the thought of doing that grim route again stopped me even applying this year

Damn, it's quite hard work fixed.

Forgot I'd entered and have a place. I'm only interested if it's one of the first waves off though. Does it tell you start time anywhere?
-
• #2164
Seem to have entered twice, so got both mags. One in and one out.
Let's hope it's an early start so I don't have hours of standing around this year.
-
• #2165
Not until like a month before the event or something.
What guesstimated route time did you put in? if you put 4hrs you'll be in one of the first waves
-
• #2166
I actually got a ballot place this year, having done it for charity last year. I'm not sure whether i actually want to do it again or not after last year.
-
• #2167
I'll give you the fee for your spot, plus a bit extra if you can collect your gear from the excel, cos I won't able to.
-
• #2168
Reading the mag they're going to release the waves at a slower rate so it might not be quite as packed
-
• #2169
No go for me this year, ah well, back to try again next year

2nd time entering and got in, I forgot what time I put down damn.

How crazy chaos is the 46 going to be? https://www.prudentialridelondon.co.uk/events/46/
Living in E17, it feels rude not to put in for it, but unless I'm missing something, it looks like it's going to run into the back of the 100. Seems like it would be unrealistic to expect to be clear enough to do it in 2 hours?

Yep, it joins onto the 100 route just under 30 miles in.
It was very quiet last year (caveat - started in the very last wave with a mate who was determined to take it very easy so felt we were the last riders on the road all the way to richmond park where those who'd gone off harder were having their first breather!).
Noticeable increase in pace/stress once you're back with the riders doing the 100.
I wonder if they'll be stricter on timings this year - technically one had to be at mile 28 by a certain cut-off time last year but there must have been 1000s who weren't, not sure if this led to any of the issues with the pro-race being stopped or if that was purely due to accidents on the 100 route.

Just got my commiserations magazine, gutted but will apply for the 46 again
@J0nathan the 46 can definitely be done in 2hrs. I'm sure because I got 2hrs 12 last year and had spent 10 minutes held up by an accident, if anything the rejoining with the 100milers provides much needed pace and drafting opportunity, the section which is 46 only was very lonely for me last year as I didn't see a single other cyclist down there until the last 15 metres. -

Reminder that if you do have a place, best pay up this weekend if you want to keep it.

Didn't get a place.
Umming and ahhing about going for a charity place.
This would be the fourth year on the bounce, not sure I can be arsed.
I do, however, have a place on the Etape du Wales, which I fully expect to be fucking savage.
What other options are available, that don't involve having to raise a grand for charity?
