I finished two 750ml bottles, probably around 20 miles before the end - I'd happily have drunk more if I'd had it with me so that sounds about right.

4hr52m for us in total, including two stops - one scheduled, one not. Rather enjoyed it.

list is endless!
the chumps riding to the start, on the route, head onto groups doing 30mph, ffs.
the chumps gate crashing the course and getting in the way
the cars that got on course, panicked and tried to drive away at the speed limit (i.e. not fast enough)
the guy who rode into a cone about 2 miles inBut all in a great day, I can't imagine how sketchy it would have been further down the field.

Had a great time. 5:16 with two wee wees. There are far too many people riding like complete fools on the descents - absolutely screaming down with no idea what's ahead. I even saw someone do a pro-style sit-on-top-tube-shoulders-on-bars. There were so many people around at the time. WAC.
I'll no doubt do it every year if successful, particularly as I live about 10mins from the start, but I felt constantly nervous that some MAMIL was going to take me out.

Today has thankfully laid new memories over the top of last years rain-fest, I really enjoyed today, now to go and eat more chilli than any man* has eaten before.

Anyone know what happened to the rider down on Leith? I cycled past just moments past and it looked very bad.
-
• #1559
Apparently a few guys at the Rapha store that he passed away...I hope I'm wrong

I was told the same thing by a rider I randomly met just now. I hope he's wrong.

So many crashes.

Did it in 5 hours 36 which considering done no training only commuting very happy with that. But think did shorten route around Leith Hill due to incident as seemed to be lots of people complaining we weren't going on official route. Hopefully people moaning was just first world troubles and rider is ok

My wife was told a heart attack, though not confirmed.

Thanks. But despite what I think, he lost a bike out of it and I didn't.
Well done on the time!

Anyone in and around Westminster still having a pint? Raced into town to see the finish of the elite race-just saw them whizz by parliament sq as I arrived at the barriers-and could do with a drink.

5hrs 39 not bad, wanted under 5hrs 30. Got stopped a number of times for accidents even got stopped halfway up Box Hill. Too many people taking selfies at top of Box Hill didn't help. As it's already been mention people having to get off their bikes on small hills and then just stopping dead on Newlands corner. Kept myself mainly on the right which was seemed to empty.
Great day, well supported and organised although I heard a lot of people moaning that there wasn't any food at any of the stops which was strange, only stop for a call of nature at Newlands.
So many gel wrappers and bidon on the road.

I stopped way too much. My wife started a few hours after me and said there was barely any food left just gels etc

Was that the guy who had a load of bananas taped to histop tube who did a hilarious high pitched shriek when he hit the cone?!

If in the first wave then likely, caught it in the corner of my eye, in Dynamo kit apparently!

@hms I was handed one of those and commented to the gf that it looked good. Nice one!
I did 4hrs 37. 22.5mph av. Pretty chuffed. I heard that someone did have a heart attack and that they died. Although this was just gossip.
My mate got caught up in the tail backs, stood stationary on Leith Hill for 45 mins.

Hmmm, experience tells me the people screaming down the descents are less likely to come to grief than those doing it gingerly.
I heard about the cone incident. Just one of those things I suppose. Getting up at 3am is not good for your concentration!

But yeah I wasn't there and context etc.

I worked hard in a small group to go below 4 hours moving time and only stopping once for water and the toilet. Didn't quite make it (4hr 20m) but getting closer. Going to oval space the night before didn't help.
4:48 on the chip timer. Chuffed. Lots of cramp in last 35K. Drank 2.2 litres of osmo - is that far off what I should've had? Not used to riding reasonably hard in warm weather.
