We always just use cat in a flat.
Less stress if they can be kept in the same environment.

Our neighbour (in SE25) runs a pet-sitting business. They take dogs in (and rabbits or guinea pigs), and will do home visits for cat feeding + regular petcare.
I would recommend leaving your cat at home if at all possible. Much less stress than moving them to a new temporary home and without familiar faces. -

A rat just ran into my boat and is hiding in the walls - anyone want to lend me a cat? Or do I just set fire to the boat and start over?

How long will you be away for? You could always hire a cat-sitter. It’s always best to keep them at home if possible, esp if you’ve not had them that long.

About 10 days. Yeah, that would be my preference, I just haven't had any experience with cat sitters so far.

My advice would be to get someone soon, so you can introduce them and your cat can get used to them. Mist cats like company and attention, so even just morning and evening will be enough for 10 days.
Me and the wife are off to Oz in january for a month and having to leave Dizzy at home, but we have a good friend who will stay at ours for the whole time, which is a huge relief.

Make sure whoever cat sit for you can feel relax around a cat. I just got back from a 3 weeks away and some of you might remember I was ranting about my cat sitter friend spreading her own anxiety all over the flat and Patch was really feeling it. When I got back, I could tell that she had slept in her chair or her own bed for most of the days... and they know each other relatively well.
I mean who’d spend 15 mins apologising for accidentally making a loud sound and scare the cat?

A drooly Lula with her poor fat cheek due to the tumor. She is pretty content at the moment & last night ate 4 pouches of soup for cats (thank goodness for this ridiculous stuff!)
