So Willow is a thief! He has been to the neighbours house taking the other cats treats. That’s quite a climb as well since our garden walls are 3.5 meters high of not higher. Not sure if I should be proud or disappointed.

You mean he took the whole bag of Dreamies? Carried it over in his mouth?
-
• #7915
Yep, over a 3.5 meter wall and through our upstairs window. Wasn't even that interested in the contents.

so been back a few days, Patch and I have made up and she's forgiven me... I think and just as we thought all is well in the world, a bit of bad news - we went to the vet today for her annual check up and we discovered she suffers from what seem to be a genetic condition that affects her gum, so for now, she will have to have a tooth removed before it gets 'eaten' by her gum. Honestly, I understood very little what the vet said other than if left untreated, the tooth will eventually get buried under her red and swollen gum and that would be extremely painful and some cats will stop eating and some will just carry on their merry way and there is no inbetween from their experience.
So we have to go back and have a tooth removed in the next few weeks and then this will evenutally happen again to another tooth in a few years time... and again... and again...
To make matters a little awkward, insurance renewal is next week so the insurer might well want to charge me 2 lots of fees for this claim... I hope not, but it is what it is...

aww poor patch but at least it's been spotted. really hope the vet costs are covered. Double fuss for patch

I hope so, I mean when I took out the policy, I made sure they spell everything out to me and I also recorded our calls with they consent and there is no exclusion for her mouth, so hopefully it will be fine. If not, Vet said the cost would be aroud £500, so it's still just about within the affordable range... Then I'd just have to start saving for the next tooth...
Failing that, I'd have to wrap a string aroud her troubled tooh and hook the other end to a door handle and then release the mouse or something...

poor patch - vets trips are never nice + teeth removal - ugh - is this the weird thing where the teeth get re-absorbed back into the gum in a very painful process?

I think so, that's what my limited understand of what the vet was saying... To be honest, he had a student there so he threw me more tech terms than he usually does, probably to show off... :-)
When he showed me her gum, there is a spot of very red gum with clear margins directly above the troubled tooth, the rest of the gum looks absolutely fine.

^if it's that then look at the seaweed based powder as a food additive -Plaque Off. One of our cats lost teeth that way and with the additive it has not returned.
