nice. couldn't really parse that the people were from bottom up at first.
(looks a lot like a student render from several years ago, very close but not quite, possibly some 'inspiration' taken... ) -

Enter mother and 12 week old kitten to the Hovis household. From the lovely folk at Celia Hammond cat rescue centre in Lewisham. They have spent two nights in our house now, just keeping them in our kitchen living space area for now where they have a nice view of our garden and plenty of string to play with.
They seem to be settling nicely, although the little one doesn't seem to be eating much yet. Loves to play and is quite handy at catching flies. Mother seems to just mope about not doing very much, but does like attention and a cuddle. Am hoping she will liven up eventually, I'm guessing being separated from the rest of her litter and new surroundings is perhaps rather stressful. She's rather skinny so need to fatten her up a bit.
My plan is to give them access to the rest of the house tonight, although I worry about forgetting windows open and them bolting. Am trying to get in the habit of keeping all the doors and windows closed but its hard in this heat.
Anyways, not really sure why I'm writing all this, just sharing. Must be honest but I don't feel we have developed any kind of bond with them yet, which I think is also why we can't think of any names for them. Fingers crossed this changes soon.

you answered your own question ;-) -

Must admit, last night it had it's eye on a rather docile but still buzzing fly on a window that she couldn't reach, so I created a ladder for her to get up to it, and watched her kill and eat it over the space of about 15 minutes.
Our spider and fly situation has really improved since we got them.

tortoiseshell kitten looks lovely :)
I am also tempted by the short-term fostering thing... -

When I used to live in a house with a couple of cats one was a cold-blooded moth killer (moths freak me out so I never stopped it). Despite having quite a big gut she would easily launch herself and catch huge hawk moths out of the air at least 6' up and sit there angrily tearing them apart and eating them.
Meanwhile the other would see a spider, zero in on its movement and follow it for a few seconds but then flee the room and peer around the door frame until I relocated the spider because he would get too scared after the initial interest. -

@hoefla Not fostering them, we adopted ! Tortie is ridiculously cute, which unfortunately means she getting the bulk of the attention.
@squidink Amazing. I hope she is good with moths too as we are getting more hovering our wardrobes than we would like.
I've just been informed by Mrs Hovis that she has already unleashed them into the wider home. Apparently they like the underside of the shoe rack.

Jokes aside your cats look nice, good job on adopting them and may you have a good time together!
Yeah I figure keeping all windows closed is tough these days though really necessary at this stage!
