The kittens were treated with a flea product by the vet. One of the three drops on the back of the neck. Not sure what, can't remember. Was a bit shocked that they have fleas...well a flea.

  • fleas have become resistant to some poisons, so if they've had drops but still have fleas you should try another that has a different ingredient. You should wait 4 weeks before putting any more drops on them though because poison.

  • Sorry,I was unclear. The vet noticed the fleas...well one flea, on one cat. Then treated both cats.

  • Yes. And you said they still had fleas. So work out whatever the vet gave them, look up the active ingredient then use a different one, as long as you leave 4 weeks between applications.

  • Never said that they still had fleas, I don't actually know if they still have fleas as the treatment is not instantaneous think it takes 48hours.

  • In my experience the cats will usually be leaving a trail of moribund fleas for the couple of days after treatment.

The problem then is the ones left in the environment waiting to hatch, but a treatment of Indorex and a bit of vigorous hoovering (which encourages them to hatch out) should do the job.

  • Have used a spray that has the same active ingredient as indorex. But have order two cans to do the flat and the beds etc.

  • Do not spray your beds or clothes, just carpets/floors and vacuum/hotwash everything else. A friend of my mum’s got kidney failure after spraying all her clothes. Admittedly in the 90s so possibly not the same stuff but still, it is pesticide.

  • We have three cats now.

One recently came to us a fucked-up stray covered in dirt, jumping with fleas and earmites.

We treated all cats that very night with anti-worm tablets and a vial of Stronghold each.

The trick to a proper dose is to prepare a sweet, sweet, meaty treat of a meal for your cats, uncap the vial then find the point between your cats shoulder blades (where they can't lick); unload the whole vial in there and give them their food.

We have never had any problems with fleas (our cats are indoor and outdoor beasts).

  • This stuff:

  • Also that stuff kills any loose fleas hiding out in cat bedding, floorboards, carpets, whatever.

  • My cat is terrified of the fireworks. Searched Twitter and found this... I've signed.

  • Neither of my cats seem to care about fireworks, they're wandering around as per usual.

Now, when I sneeze (something I seem to be doing a lot of tonight) they run a mile at high speed.

  • My two are watching the fireworks

  • Yeah Fleur is a fan of fireworks too despite being terrified of almost everything else in the world. Been lying on the balcony staring up at them all yesterday evening.
Besides, playing with fireworks as a yoot was the best.

Fleur giving zero fucks last night while people set them off from the adjoining balcony.

  • Yeah our cat isn’t happy about fire works, but I’m not sure a ban will happen.

Apparently some states in the US have ban fireworks sale to the general public, the same states that don’t have any problem with you owning a semi auto machine gun.

  • Trapped watching the football. Tough life.

  • Anyone want 12 vials of advocate flea treatment? I got them from the vet, but our moggies are indoor beasties and don't have fleas.

  • Fleur has lived with us exactly one year today, she still likes to hide but is really starting to settle in :)
    First night:

  • Yeah so are mine.... ;)

  • What timing, I'd love them if they're still going. We've just run out. Will pm.

  • Happy first year of servitude.

The two kittens I have are so affectionate. Suspect that the children that were with the cat mother handled them alot and cuddled the kittens.

When we first got the kittens, the girl wet herself on the bed. Poor thing started crying as she woke up wet. The sound of the most pitiful cries, her brother came running and kept licking her head till we cleaned her up. Then Luna was licking my facial hair and Buzz was licking her.

  • Firework in the back garden? Seriously? Every I was startled just now, let along the poor kitty currently hiding under the bed. I hope it fucking raining heavily soon.... (I know it won't but wishful thinking!)

  • Does anyone trim their cat's claws here? I know about the risks and such, just wondered if anyone has any clipper recommendations or particular tips/techniques for holding them still long enough. Luckily my guys pretty docile and ok with his paws being touched.

  • Higgs is now 5.3kg and a much, much happier cat than when she was well over a kg heavier.

She might also qualify for some sort of feline Weight Watchers award.
