That must have been so hard to do. It was obvious you helped each other, will you be getting another? I'll miss seeing catface's face too x

Really sorry to hear your news :(

Thank you everyone. Deep down I know it was the right decision for him, he never got to the stage where he was in pain, just uncomfortable. It is far too quiet without him now, I didn't sleep well without him hogging the bed, & at somepoint today I really should clean away his litter tray & wash his stinky blankets (couldn't face doing either yesterday).
@hoefla Once January is here I'll start looking for another cat that's in need of a home. I'll happily adopt another old cat that just wants a window to sit in, or a cat with medical conditions that shouldn't play outside. Hopefully I gave Catface what he needed for his last year's of his life, & can do the same for another.

That's good to hear Betty. I've had a number of cats who, through no fault of mine, came to premature ends, and when you feel ready go and get another. They'll have a different personality and create new memories and you'll never forget or stop loving Catface, but the grief will ease.
I'm hopefully meeting a new kitten this week.
And thanks to everyone who sent me good wishes who I haven't yet acknowledged.

Boy cat appears to have turned into a skunk.
Multiple washing, even with neat washing up liquid, and the smell was still on my skin this morning.
Boy also appears to have developed a baldness problem on his gutpud (technical term). Ordinarily, I'd think this was a stress reaction (new baby, local cats are evil, that sort of thing), but he's otherwise pretty chilled. It's also incredibly warm against your skin when you pick him up...

Worried new cat owner question:
Saw an insect(brown, 4mn long) disappear into Fleurs fur last night, def wasn't a flea or louse, suspect it was just a random one that came in with the Xmas tree or stuck to my boots.
Have given her a damn good groom and a dose of Frontline. She's not been scratching and no poop or eggs to be seen. She's in the vet on the 14th for jabs and a check over but should we be concerned? Will try and keep inspecting her if she lets us. -

Patch comes home with all sorts... as long as you keep up with flea and worm treatments, yours will be fine, she'd probably eaten it for dinner last night and popped it out this morning already.
That said, fleas and worms will eventually happen to all cats... it's not a question of if, it;s a question of when...

Yeah figured she'd be fine, she's an indoor kitty so even less likely to get attacked by beasties than most.

What scares me the most is Patch walks around with slugs or other similar texture moving living beings on her without knowing it... than it's up to the human to get rid of it before they make their way onto or into my bed...

Heard a big catfight kerfuffle in the garden last night then Rhino came in with tufts of his fur and someone else's all over him and a big cut on his eyebrow.. :( someone got him good. Luckily he seems okay, cleaned him up with TCP and he didn't seem too fussed. It's gonna take a while to heal I think.

Sam 9 arrived today.
He is 10 weeks old and hand reared which means he is incredibly friendly and affectionate. He is not really sitting still at the moment so these are last week'a photos from the Vet. He is a dinky tiny thing.
