mate a bird and a cat very different things seeing it get run over.
I saw apigeon get popped by a bus one time, dead immediately. The cat was still kicking and flailing with blood spraying for about a minute. Not good.

maybe you're right but the chance of it happening right in front of your eyes is still pretty low

oh dear, poor cat. Gonna have to give my kitty a big hug right now. Could the driver be legally held responsible? In theory? Not that anyone would be bothered (but they should) following it up, but a life is a life...
I once saw a person when I was a teen and luckily avoided another person got killed by about 20 mins (pop to the shop, everything was fine, on my way back, everything got blocked off), a few years back. Not very nice memory at all... I refused to use that bit of the road for years...
A life is a life... no matter what form...

I believe that legally a driver must stop if they run over a dog, cow or other livestock. But not a cat.

Yup, working animals.

My cat is a working animal also, she keeps those annoying mice away from my home and keeps my room spiders free. I would say that's hard work.

These are really nice but I'd worry if mine weren't wearing a quick release or elasticated collar. I think Murts (31trum on here) has made some lovely leather safety collars...

Mine keeps managing undo her quick release one... I did ask Muetle and he never got back to me...

How?
Does she catch it on branches do you think? Mine are always losing theirs but I'd rather that than one if them strangling themselves because they couldn't escape. -

I think I mentioned this upthread- James gets a paw between his collar and his neck, then pushes his leg through, so he ends up with the collar looking like a desperado's bandolier, then he gets the other leg through it and manages to pop it off somehow.
I've given up putting a collar on him.

Did he grow up in a circus?
-

Yes Dammit, you did, what James did was pretty amazing... Patch just has a way to undo the actual clip, I don't know how, guess if you are desperate, anything is possible. I was advised to put a bit of tape on the clip so it would make it a little harder, but she still manages. Like I woke up the other day, all the food was eaten, the collar was left on the floor and she was gone... I thought to myself, have I been treating her that badly that she'd left without saying goodbye?
By the way, think we have worked out that she is mroe than capable to use the flap, she just perfer the flp to be held open for her... Such a princess...

Aw, what a grown up madam she is now!

Oh yes, she also knows when to push which button to get exactly what she wants. The cutest thing is in the morning before I give her breakfast, she usually wants a cuddle for a min or so, which is very sweet.

i know this isnt what people want to read here but it is the cat thread. I saw a poor cat get run over yesterday. Car must have seen it and instead of slamming brakes think it even sped up and went right over it. I had to pull the poor animal to the side of the road when it had finally passed.
Shook me right up and had to get home quick to see my own tigger.
