  • Ours started doing the same thing dopest, but she is an outside cat only. Took her to the vets and £60 later after an anti biotic shot and painkillers...she hasn't done it since.

  • cheers. I feel bad for him because I know he loves being outside but I just havent had the time to train him to come in and out of the new house and the couple of times I have taken him out in the garden he's been a bit freaked out because its all new and the neighbours dog starts barking.

  • I felt bad afterwards as I thought she was just being naughty. Just gotta stop the little bugger hunting and needing monthly worming and flea/tick frontline...we live in the countryside though - so I guess I better just get used to the hassle and expense.

  • Our cat's just fallen from flat window, third floor. We couldn't find him and eventually had to search outside. He's got a little blood on his mouth, which seems to have stopped and clotted. Anything I can do before I can get him to a vet?

  • Oh fuck. Paging my sister....

  • While I await her reply - obvious questions but is he limping or crying and what colour are his gums?

  • You might want to take a look at this related thread - http://www.lfgss.com/thread41023.html

  • Gums seem pink. He is limping a bit, and laying awkwardly. Typically, my other half goes on holiday at 7am so I'm going to have to get him to a vet in the morning. We just had one on the phone and she says keep him warm and quiet and watch for signs of shock. Poor little bugger looks absolutely terrified. First time in the outdoors and a massive fall to boot. It's like the Truman Show for him.

  • :( Can you get there easy enough in the morning?

  • Not easily, no. And my boss isn't going to be happy about another day off - had to do same two weeks ago when Kirsty wrote the car off. It never rains... I'll just get a cab and charge it to the other half for leaving the window open.

    ;)

  • You're not in London are you? Else I'd offer to help :/

Don't worry about your boss - life/shit happens to all of us.

Better to get him checked than come back to no cat.

  • Yup, in Bromley, but it's OK - I'll get cab to local vet in the morning early and hopefully have the all clear by mid-morning and get some work done from home.

  • Poor thing, hope is OK.... Sending hugs...

  • Earlier today my hunter brought me this gift:

I never knew dragonflies bit so firmly!

And now he sleeps, dreaming of hunting, no doubt:

  • is that even a comfy sleeping position? If I slept like this, I wouldn't be able to move my neck in the morning...

I know very little about cats, but I'm assuming if ours decided to venture off the balcony of our 19th floor gaff then it's likely that he'll come a cropper...

I do hope yours is fine.

  • The poor guy was in the car two weeks back when Kirsty wrote it off. He must be getting tired of this now. Just waiting for taxi to vets. Pushed Kirsty out of the door five minutes ago on her holiday - she's a bit frantic. All should be well soon.

  • Mine fell off my first floor balcony the other day. It landed with a thump when I got down there it was just cowering in the corner. Lucky didn't decide to run off. It acted like it didn't even know me. Must get really shook up by it. Luckily nothing seemed untoward and was walking moving normally thankfully.

  • "flat cat" - quite common among city high rise dwelling cats, at least according to the vet that fixed mine many, many moons ago. she was ripped to bits shortly thereafter by a pack of dogs owned by a fucking scumbag a few streets down who'd let them roam about at night because scumbag.

hope your wee man is well

    :(

  • Last night my girlfriend was befriended by a really skinny, seriously underweight kitten. She decided to take him to the vets in case he was lost.

The vets scanned his chip and it turned out he was actually 10 years old! He is missing most of his teeth except his fangs. We left a voicemail on the number attached to his collar and then let him chill at our house for a few hours.

    He was super friendly.

Eventually the owner got in contact. It turns out that he's not underfed, he has some liver problems and cant keep any weight on despite a special diet and loads of medication, he also wasnt lost he's just super friendly so followed my gf home.

Well we woke up this morning to find him on our doorstep again, so I guess we have a new feline friend.

    His name is Fidel Catstro.

  • Was woken up Saturday morning by a cat meowing in the lobby outside the front door of the apartment. Luckily she had a tag with a phone number and a name. Took her inside in case she was an inside cat of one of my neighbour's.

Got hold of the owner who came to pick her up. She had wandered what is a 30 minute walk from me across some quite busy roads. In the meantime I got to play with this cutie:

  • Better to assume a friendly cat is lost than treat a lost cat as friendly... Patch will never follow anyone home BTW... She is just so timid with people... I do worry than some day someone might scare her to a point she doesn't know her way home...

  • I keep hearing very high pitch and somewhat very annoying cat meows... No it's not form Patch and I can't find any cat in the garden... where are these fuckers hiding? If they wanna take my Patch out, they'd have to pass me first!

  • I'm in work now but I've heard from the gf that Fidel is currently teasing my other two cats through the patio door. We're keeping them seperate for now because he's so frail and old and ours like to play fight.

  • Been to vet: jaw is OK, organs unsquished, foot possibly broken. He's staying in for some drugs, x-rays and to have the cut on his lip looked at while he's under.

If it is broken, there's little to be done, but it'll help us gauge how long a limp should last and worry/not worry accordingly. Will pick him up this afternoon.

Lucky escape. He could've panicked and run when he landed - he's never been outside before. It was sheer luck that I found him, cowering in a bucket.
