:O Just got back from the vet with news of an £800 bill that isn't covered by insurance!

Jesus Stonehedge!!! That would be sadly terminal in our skint household at the moment! What are you going to do?
Extra, Pox is approaching an estimated year old in June or July we think. She's a small cat and does have very youthful looks. I don't think we realised how young and vulnerable she was when we took her in.

Extra. She rules us less and less to be honest. Very similar to yours in that she shadows us room to room. Doesn't pester, just wants to be where we are. She's getting bolder and staying out longer. Used to be a right dick as soon as the sun came up, but seems to be sussing that we ain't feeding her til we're good and ready so its just not worth the bother. She waits til we're up now.

Came in with a bit of a scratch on her rump yesterday and actually smelled of boy cat! I felt like an overprotective Dad. Nearly had me reaching for a shotgun!

Prepare yourself for a garden full of shouting, stinking, spraying horny male cats. It'll be good times.

To be fair, the quote is £300 to £800 depending on the work done when they've put him under and had a look at how bad it is.
Fabric has developed terrible breath over the last month or two and since Friday he has been avoiding hard food and pawing at his mouth. Turns out he has really bad teeth and gums and will likely need extractions and root planing under anaesthetic.
Insurance only covers dental work if you have a dental examination every year and I let him go more than a year in-between inspections which I feel pretty bad about.
If this had happened a year or two ago I would have struggled to pay for it. Last night, I was sitting in front of my laptop considering spending £800 on a watch. There is no hesitation in our mind, we are totally happy to spend the money. He's been a great companion for the last 6 years. I've spent the money on much less valuable things.
Bloody glad that I can afford it. Really not sure about having pet insurance. So far, it has cost me £200 per year for 6 years and hasn't covered me for anything. Not that he has needed much done.
In more positive news, the heart murmur that he was born with hasn't worsened since he was born.

Good that you have it covered Stonehedge. If that happened to us right now Pox would have to pray that my attempt at being a bank robber panned out.

We might have the money in the bank but I'm not working at the moment so I'm really hoping that I don't really miss it a few weeks down the line! Hey ho, shit happens.

I really want a Pallas cat:

• #2321
Looks violent. Maybe I can get one to defend Pocket from her randy suitors.
-
• #2322
Looks photoshopped.
fixed

It looks like it can throw a punch. I don't think they're remotely domestic either.
-
• #2324
Is it a cat or a doorstop?
-
• #2325
The more I see the more I want one.
How is she getting on? Is she ruling the home yet?? And how old is she? She still looks very kitten like! I thought kitten face only last 2 mins...
