  • one of our cats is eating grass and making herself sick.

this has been an occasional thing in the past but normally only one episode at a time, whereas now she has been sick maybe 4 times in the last 36 hours.

could it be just because the lawn is now really long and lush after there being no grass for months? or is that a stupid idea and I should be more worried?

  • Needs worming tablets possibly? Thought eating grass was a sign they’ve got them

  • Our cat started eating grass and vomiting a lot, pretty much after every meal. Although he continued to loudly demand it, food refusal followed. The vet ran all sorts of inconclusive tests and we tried loads of different foods but he didn’t really take to any of them and started to lose weight. Strangely, apart from not eating, he was in usual spirits, wanting plenty of fuss and firm tummy rubs.

Last Wednesday the vet decided to give him a scan and worst fears were realised. Outcome is he has not long to go and we’re keeping him as comfortable as possible (he remains in good spirits). We’ve got another visit to the vet on Wednesday that I’m not looking forward to.

Here he is, poor shaved boy

  • Ah that's awful, so sad.

    I hope this isn't our trajectory. Nico's only 3ish.

  • I’m just thinking about the lovely time we’ve had with him and he’s had with us - this was yesterday in the garden (he’s a house cat), enjoying the sun.

And sorry, when I typed I didn’t mean to imply that you are on a similar path.

  • Sorry to hear this. Its never easy to deal with illness in cats

  • Thanks man, really appreciate it.

He’s currently lying beside me full length, snoozing and gently purring while I watch a crappy film. Dreading vet visit tomorrow and needing to remind myself that it’s going to be about him not us hoping without reason that things will improve and being selfish.

  • Someone doesn’t care that it’s Monday tomorrow

  • It's taken him 3 years but Waily is finally comfortable enough in our house to start rearranging shit

  • :-)

It's hilarious / infuriating how they love to knock stuff off shelves and tables. Just to see what will happen....

  • Probably just wanted a clearer view on the (great) photo in the frame behind the thing 💁

  • A friend of mine is currently working as a teacher out in Saudi. She came across this kitten alone, his litter mates were all dead as was the Mum. She's taken him in. He's called Lynx. What a smasher!

  • Look at this distinguished gentleman, look at the way he is sitting, yes very distinguished.

  • So handsome!!

  • So, we had to make the decision today as our poor puss wasn’t able to eat or drink and was getting thinner and thinner with no good outcome.

He was still in good spirits - on the bed at 5, loudly purring and wanting fuss, batting me later when he’d had enough of said fuss - but understood that we needed to do it before he got distressed (vet agreed).

    RIP puss

  • Awwwww great rescue 👏 🙌 👍

  • A hard decision to make. He looks a great cat. Wishing you all the best. It's never easy. RIP Puss

  • It's a very hard decision to take but it's the best thing to do. Sorry for your loss. RIP Puss.

  • Condolences.

We've had many an orange cat over the years. They are very special companions. Doing the right thing is not always easy.

  • Ah that's so hard but well done for doing the right thing.

I was so grateful that our last cat went quickly of her own accord without suffering so we never had to make that call.

Now we have two lovely and annoying moggies.

  • Thanks all, really much appreciated, amazing how attached we get!!!

Yesterday was shitty for us as we knew what was coming but he had a lovely morning in the sun in the garden, toasty fur and he even tried to do some hunting (which he always was useless at).
