My partner took Herman (after Herman Munster) to the vets the other day, and the vet assumed that we'd named him after Hermann Goering, and went on to tell her how he wasn't that bad. WTF.

Had a similar thing when I took my cat Pussolini in.

The vet said the cat wasn't that bad? Not Goering?

Anyone got any experience with comforting a cat with a newborn in the house? He’s obviously a bit put out and his sleep schedule has gone to shit owing to the screaming and nappy changing at all hours.
Any things we should be doing?

Do you have a box of old cables?

Is that a wise thing to train a cat on?
-
• #12012
No, but get them used to getting the teeth brushed.
Serious question do cats need chew toys or crunchy food to help?

In case anyone wanted Rambo news, he passed away some time in the last two months. Was told when someone else sent the owner a birthday message and the owner mentioned that Rambo didn't come home and was found in a neighbours garden a week later.
Is it wrong to think I should have been contacted about Rambos passing?
EDIT: Should i be pissed off that I wasn't told? Am pissed off and am I justified?

R.I.P. Rambo.

No, but inevitably they'll chew through the ones that are A) plugged in, and B) that you actually use and need.

My Christmas tree has been up for two days so far, I can't see it making it all the way to the big day though.

Does anyone have any recommendations for nail clippers? Celeste manages to keep hers fairly short by scratching the shit out of the new chair, but Meabh has talons and got stuck in the window screen the other day. She will tolerate having them cut although it's a two person operation.

My Christmas tree is dead.
Balsam Hill won't help repair it so it is destined for landfill. It's a 7" Nordmann Fir artificial tree with built-in lights.
However, Persephone climbed the tree and got tangled in the light cables and was crying and screaming as she hung in pain, so to rescue her the wires were cut either side of where she was trapped. Result: Freed the cat, but now the lights on the tree are dead.
Unfortunately with 3 wires each side, no markings on the wires, and 2 cuts... it's not obvious how to repair it.
Oh well. My partner hated the tree for how much space it took so I guess this is all just a sign that I should take it to the dump.

Could you not just get some battery power fairy lights for your Christmas tree? Sounds like your mind is made up though. Maybe freecycle, is that still a thing in London?

LED, so shouldn't blow up if you get the polarity wrong with a guess... Suppose a short is possible. Got a multimeter?

Big spender eh?

Not LED... these use the old light bulbs still.

We said our goodbyes to Bella this morning - the softest cat, nearly 15 years as a great companion. I have buried her deep under the spot where she used to sit and watch the bird feeder.

They're very sweet! String lights are banned in my house after Meabh got herself caught in some and then sprinted about the house knocking everything over.
