Herman loves - peas, courgette (made the mistake of leaving one out all night, only to find it very nibbled in the morning) and his favourite is spinach.

Hendricks is responding well to treatment; he’s eaten some food, urinated a few times and is now rolling over for attention (classic).

Blood tests tomorrow will determine level of kidney damage / function.

Not out of the woods and, at the very least, he could still need another 48 hours of rehydration but they sounded positive.

I’m hoping we’ll be seeing this lump again before Monday.

He’s got to be on renal food and two of the four kidney figures in his blood test were still high (vet has no idea why) so he’s getting another blood test in 4 weeks.

We’ll obviously monitor him in the meantime.

Such a brave boy.

Is it possible he ate something toxic outside, wrong kind of plant or something?

He's an indoor cat so definitely no outside issue. We had some daffodils sent to the missus by Ocado for Mothers Day (ffs) that were in the Kitchen for an hour or so last week. Unlikely he got to them but they're very poisonous to cats.

I don't think we'll ever know.

No bladder grit (sorry if it's the wrong translation) issues hopefully? This can also lead to kidney problems

I honestly don't know. We can't go in and see the vets right now (literally pick up / drop off in the car park) and we're currently isolating whilst I wait for a covid test result.

For now, we'll carry on with renal food and monitor his health. He seems to be behaving normally right now but we'll be super sensitive to it of course.

It tends to be more of a genetic thing. One of ours has it but we caught it very early - so early that it never shows up on his bloodwork. It is manageable. 5+ years and still going strong.

Yes that tends to be his natural peak energy levels. He is 13.

Bladder crystals thing are struvight?

Yay for the gin cat.

One of ours when I was growing up was the same. She was 19 when she died.
