Glad to see you went for it with the fork. Reckon it's gonna look awesome. Hubs look good too. Gonna be needing something like that for a project soon.

I love to see how CP is overflowing with CX atm.
I hope this will qualify as a HHSBSSCX. -
• #14
how did you pay for the gunsha forks? The website says no online payment!?
-
• #15
Well it's not called a PIMPetamine for nowt...
-
• #16
HHSBSSCX lol. I need a trispoke for my sscx. ;-)

I emailed them. there was a hell of a long wait before they even got them in stock. had to get a proforma invoice and pay when in stock.

just got one of these too. lower detangler for long travel brakes. will try to modify it to let me control one brake with two levers. -
• #19
I'd be interested in seeing that- just waiting for a Problem Solvers 2:1
-
• #20
I know. I considered that too, but it's just way to expensive.
I also prefer the way the J-tec works where the levers pull in extension of each other as opposed to the probem solver where the one lever pulled the most gives all the power.
I will try to make it work like J-tek, but look a bit neater and be suited for long pull calipers. -

I think mine came to £40 shipped- still spendy for sure.
Given that I could have stopped the left hand lever flapping by using the spring from a retractable biro it's hugely spendy, but I thought if it was possible to use both levers then that would be worth a bit of expenditure.
-
• #22
Exactly. I like to be able to use the brake with whatever hand is on the the bars. besides I'd hate to have something without a function on this bike.
-
• #23
Ref the lever power thing- I don't envisage using both levers at once, I imagine I'll rarely ever use the left hand lever at all, although of course it's impossible to say ahead of time.
ANYWAY! Great project you've got, glad to see a thread up about it.

btw, dammit, can you wheigh the 2:1 when it arrives? the oryg is quite a porker, I think, at 126 grams including all cables and adjusters. that will obviously drop a bit when I pull it apart.

Sure.
I have been asked for a CP thread for this project so here's the english version. I have one going here in danish: http://fixie-king.dk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=17714
The background for this bike is my experiment from last summer with dropbars and balloon tyres. that combination was really fun, but the geometry and weight of the 29er was just not suited.
I thought a SSCX frame would be ideal and chose a pompetamine. The pompetamine frame is quite heavy at 2,5kgs, but the price allowed me to get a proper carbon fork for it to bring down weight a bit.
I'm aiming for a sub 9 kg bike in the end and by the look of it I can get close to 8,5. The bike is not even built yet and I'm already dreaming about upgrading the frame.
Any way. On with the pics:
bikecad sketch
mock up with borrowed wheels and photoshopped paint/panels
had to DIY some chain ring spacers. (chainset is 686grams with ring and BB)
Look how well the post matches the bb box. I must be on the right track here.
