Let us know how you get on with it. Seems to have a fair few good reviews.

In lieu of joining one of those frankly odd vaping forums I thought I'd see if anyone here had any advice or had similar experiences.
I have tried and failed to give up smoking numerous times over the last 5 years so thought I'd give e-cigarettes a go. Four weeks on and I haven't even thought about having a smoke. It's been so easy and I've got down from 18mg to 6mg nicotine e-liquid in that time.
There's been a side effect though. I have what I think I can accurately describe as hives. I can't be certain It's the e-cig but it started a few days after I started on them. It's not particularly acute but it's annoying enough that I need to find out whatever is causing it and stop it.
Doing a bit of googling I've discovered that nicotine and flavourings aside two of the major ingredients in e-liquid are Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerin, both of which it seems can cause allergic skin reactions in some people. I'm not sure how much stock to place in this information; using allergy as a suffix to any word when search on google will tell you everything in the world can cause an allergic reaction...
Has anyone had or heard of similar reactions?
The sensible thing to do would be to stop using it, but I'd rather the hives (for now) than start smoking again
Yours itchily

Some people are allergic to PG. I have no idea how this manifests itself, so I guess I'd ask a doctor.
You can get 100% VG juices, although you will probably need some fairly robust kit to be able to run it successfully. I guess I would choose a dripping attie for 100% VG juice and probably go for microcoil so that the wicks can be changed easily when they gunk up.
If it turns out it's a PG allergy, we could probably steer you in the right direction of some good hardware. If not, I'd say it might be a coincidence rather than something linked to your new way of ingesting nictoine.

RY4 tastes very chemical, not sure I'll be able to do both bottles... Trip Hammer T&H for me...

Might need a steep. Top cap and dripper thing off on a window sill. I think they use some sort of solvent in the flavour extraction process which evaporates eventually. Longest anything has ever taken (from what I can tell) is about 3 weeks. Make sure it's in something secure when you leave it as chances are you will knock it at some point.

I'm a non-cycling vaper from some of those 'weird' forums (haha!) who stumbled across this thread (as you do) and, after reading from beginning to end, signed up just to make three points:
1) Serious kudos to Butters (and only a bit less for TS and others) for all the support and advice generously given to others.
It's been an absolute scream reading your progress from CE4s right up to powerful mech mods and rebuildables, all in just a couple of months.2) As most of you folks are probably aware, the future of vaping is under serious threat initially from the European Tobacco Products Directive but eventually from Westminster as our wonderful politicians try to bring the TPD regs into UK law.
Butters posted the url a few months ago but I'd press you all to make sure you've signed the EFVI (the European Free Vaping Initiative) to force the EC to consult with vapers before moving further down their restrictive path. Plus your friends, family and anyone else who's seen the change in you since you started vaping.
Not only will the TPD make our vaping far more difficult but future vapers simply won't have the choice of kit or supplies that we've been lucky enough to use to learn at a reasonable cost.3) As part of the push to get more signatures, EFVI-uk have placed almost 500 colourful Dodoboxes in vaping retailers across the country.
One of the lucky consequences of this is (probably) the best map of UK vaping shops - hope you find it useful in your travels. (There's another good map maintained by the AAEC forum.)
Oh and if you see a Dodobox please take the time to thank the shop staff for supporting EFVI?ps. If you find a shop that you think should be on the map (service, range of kit, advice, etc), please drop me the details to BathVaper@gmail.com. Ta!

Isn't vaping in the bath a bit dangerous?

Only with mains powered eCigs...
Thanks for the input BathVaper. Good to meet you.

I have decided to join in the vaping thing. Have read through the thread and frankly I'm a bit confused with all the atomiser, clearomiser, build your own coil and adjust the voltage business.
I go to the shops and buy 20 Embassy No 1. Job done.
Can anyone recommend a good 'starter' kit and where to buy from?
Cheers

Yup, was finishing my T&H so let it steep for a bit and it's much better now...

Been meaning to get involved in some way with this but haven't got around to it, will send off emails and stuff... Nice!

This is probably where I would start if I was going to do it all over again:

Actually, I think that kit used to come with a larger (900 MaH) VV battery, but now it only comes with one small (650 MaH) non-VV battery. Maybe the first upgrade could be a VV battery:

Would this kit be suitable for a 70 year old woman who has been smoking all her life?
I don't smoke so know nothing about the e-vapors but I need to get one for my Mother in Law who really does need to stop smokingCheers

+1 for the naturevape. I was always a social smoker, luckily was never really addicted but just enjoyed it. I stopped completely about 2 months ago - and just have a few puffs of the naturevape when I fancy, a lot cheaper than the evil weed and as a lover of shisha am a big fan of the non tobacco juices.

Would this kit be suitable for a 70 year old woman who has been smoking all her life?
Sure.
This kit will deliver nicotine in a fairly effective way and she could always use higher nicotine eliquids at first (18 or 24 mg / ml). It might come down to how comfortable she is with filling, rewicking, etc rather than nicotine delivery or vapour production. There are plenty of videos on YouTube that show how it's done. Take a look and see what you think!

• #720
There is no need to rewick if it complicates things, just tell her to replace the coil once a week is the simplest (buy her lots of spares)

I might look into a dripping atomiser option. Cheers, Ben. What a nice, rounded smoke. So much more flavour when compared to Kanger Pro and not as a slow draw as iTaste R30.

dripper, as nice as it seems, is soooo much effort

I'm nearly a month off roll ups now, with no desire to smoke..... Yay me!
But!!!Has anyone else noticed an increase in flatulence since they started vaping? I haven't changed anything else in my diet, but am doing exceptionally smelly trumps ....... Sorry to lower the tone.

You are inhaling the vapour through your mouth, right?

I reckon the Smok Scar is a good one to try out dripping:

Small, so needs filling quite a lot, but the flavour is really good for an RDA that can be had for a tenner. I drilled out the air hole to 1.5mm I think as it was a pretty tight draw otherwise.
I think I went for the RY4, free shipping on orders over £20 so I nabbed a coupla 30ml bottles...
