How's the ESB?

I've been enjoying a Boge F16 carto tank for the last week or so and I think I even prefer it to my far more expensive RSST rebuildable. They make a smaller one that will fit nicely on an Ego battery and they are stupid cheap / easy to use.

Pleased that someone has bought this thread to the top of the page as I need some advice.
I smoke American Spirit rollies, probably about 15 a day.
I want to try vaping but I need to be confident that I'm going to get the same kind of "hit" as I do from the rollies - these kits seem very expensive if I get it wrong, I'd hate to have £50 worth of vaping kit chucked in the back of a drawer because of a badly informed purchase.
So, does the kit TS suggests ^^^ work, is it the best starter for me? Can I get a smoke taste equivalent to American Spirit?
What I really want is for someone to hold my hand a point me in the right direction - the whole thing seems overly complicated what with coil kits, carto tanks and fucking clearomisers.
Please help a brother out......
Cheers

I wound up doing exactly what Butters initially suggested and swapped out the clearomiser (the tank for the liquid) on my eGo-T battery and I get a really good hit now...
You don't have to spend a lot, £50 isn't very much money for a good starter kit and a coupla upgrades... I went for the medium strength liquid (12mg) and am about to go down to 6mg...
You could always try E-Lites out but they're really expensive in the long run... Maybe try a cheap disposable first? See how you get on...

actually - can you get slightly less phallic screw-in tips for these? the rest of it works a treat, but dat mouthpiece...

Is it the best starter for me?
Maybe. Maybe not. I tried a whole load of different options before I found something I was happy with, and I'm still trying new things as often as I can. Thankfully, even with my experimenting, this is still working out half the price of buying normal cigarettes. The carto tanks I mentioned are working slightly better for me than the T3S clearos I have (same as the one mentioned by TS) and I put the RSST on when I feel the need to push 11W through it. Everyone seems to have very different taste when it comes to this though.
Can I get a smoke taste equivalent to American Spirit?
Nope, but you can find a liquid that you like instead. Halo Torque56 has a massive throat hit. Too much for me. I like Halo Tribeca. I've probably only tried about 12 different liquids though.

Don't think so. Heard lots of good things about the iClear clearos and they are firmly on my to-do list. If you're worried about what it looks like, you may be in for a bumpy ride. My daily weapon of choice looks like a light saber.

Anyone mixing their own liquid? I'm very tempted to try but haven't spent the time working out how to approach it yet.

Quite nice. They do have a tendency to sneak up on you though.

Thanks for the replies Butters and TS - but you have yet again confuddled me to jargon - carto tanks, T3S clearos and the like.
Maybe I should just email the smoking company for advice?
Does the discount code still apply?
Thanks

Unfortunately, nobody will be able to tell you what is best for you. Just make sure you get a decent variable voltage battery so you can vary how hard you drive whatever you decide to put on the end of it. Good ones are Joyetech Ego Twist and Vision Spinner, although others have had success with cheaper Ebay jobs. The bits that go on the end (cartos, clearomisers, etc) are pretty cheap (usually £5 to £10), so keep trying different ones. The Kanger T3S clearomiser is a good place to start. The Tabac BCC looks like a copy of the Kanger T3S.
Alongside finding your favourite hardware, you need to find your favourite juice. The Smoking have Foggy Dew - I tried the Honey Tobacco, which was nice. EEI reviewed a few of the other Foggy Dew juices a couple of pages back, so perhaps see if any of those sound like your thing. And they sell them in 10ml bottles so you only waste a few quid if you don't like it.
Hopefully this will help you through the jargon a bit:
**Clearomiser **- a transparent (usually) tank that has a string like wick inside dipping into the juice. In the middle of the unit, the string passes through a coil which does the vapourising. The good ones have replaceable coils as they do get clogged up after a week or two. They can be dry burned to get rid of the clogging - look on YouTube to see what I mean.
**Cartomiser **- a metal tube with cotton wool like material inside and a coil set into the cotton wool. The end bits that you find on supermarket ecigs are cartomisers (rubbish ones IMO). You can't dry burn or replace the coil in a cartomiser - you just throw it away and screw another one on. Look on YouTube for instructions on how to fill these.
Cartomiser Tank - A fairly large diameter transparent (usually) plastic tube which the cartomiser sits in. The carto will need to have a hole punched into it for the juice to get in. This makes no difference whatsoever to the performance of the carto - it just provides a ready supply of juice so you don't have to fill it up anywhere near as often.
Rebuildable Atomiser / RBA - You need to build your own wick from stainless steel mesh and wrap your own coil around it. The wick dips into a large tank of juice. I wouldn't worry about these until you have tried everything else, as getting the wick / coil right is tricky and greatly changes the way it performs.
Single / dual coil - You can get both clearomisers and cartomisers in single and dual coil. Theoretically, dual coil will produce more vapour and will be slightly warmer. In practice, this isn't really a reliable way to look at it as the quality of the design plays a bigger part.
Some good brands:
Joyetech
Kanger
Vision
Innokin
Boge
Smok / SmoktechFinally, UKEcigStore (http://www.ukecigstore.com/) have a store in Wembley which you can go into and have a better look at all this stuff. Might be worth a visit once you feel like you know roughly what hardware you are after. I would avoid their liquid though.

Many, many thanks Butters - that is really helpful.
There is a shop near to me, I'm going to go and have a nose at what they have, chat with them and hopefully try a few options.
Gotta love the willingness of folk on this forum to share their experience and knowledge.
Cheers

No worries.
Careful of local shops - so far the ones I have been to had cheap CE4 / CE5 copies that you could get on Ebay for half the price. Assuming you manage to leave the shop with your wallet intact, I'm sure you will have gained enough knowledge to take a punt on an internet order. Avoid the CE4 / CE5 / iClear16 (top coil) for now and aim for bottom coil (T3S / EvoD) or dual coil (iClear30). They just work better IME.

This is the shop local to me: http://www.thevapingvault.co.uk/
But I shall only ask questions and not rush to buy.
Blimey, I need a fag after all of this research and information!!

I take it back! They have some really nice kit.
This battery, maybe two of them if you are impatient about charging:
Or you could get a small non variable voltage Ego battery to use whilst you wait for the larger one to charge. Takes an hour or two usually. Don't forget to buy a charger!
And any of these:
Kanger EvoD - same as a T3S pretty much. Spare atomisers are still easy to get hold of.
Smok DCT Carto Tank - usually comes with dual coil cartos but any will fit I think, meaning you don't have to worry about spares being in stock.
Mini Vivi Nova - top coil but one of the old favourites. I haven't tried one.
That's a handy shop to have nearby.

They aren't bad but they were pretty low on stock when I went there on Tuesday. Seem pretty knowledgeable and they can rebuild stuff on the premises if needs be.
yeah i really need to replace that fucker. trouble is these pissing things are more complicated than bottom bracket threadings.
