  • It's fine. A bit steep just after the bend, and the speedbumps are just a bitch.

  • Hmmm I'll definitely be doing a practise ride first :)

  • This is only 4 weeks away and it's snowing outside.

    Grim.

  • grim indeed. and the bastard wind. i was going straight into it for 20 miles on sunday with noone to share it with.

  • I've got mail...

  • every day this week I've been mulling this question over in my head: Geared or Fixed for the London Classic? Posh fillet brazed Roberts vs. Classic steel Track bike?

  • Go hardcore classic steel track bike

  • Classic steel, fixed, no two ways about it; braised fillet sounds like something off the menu in a French restaurant.

  • Carbon fixed with low GI.

  • Classic steel, fixed, no two ways about it; braised fillet sounds like something off the menu in a French restaurant.

Go hardcore classic steel track bike

looks like thats my decision made for me then. many thanks gentlemen!

  • Greetings to one and all,

Well it is now 3 weeks to go on Sunday and I am really looking forward to this one.
We've had some awful weather this week but I am sure it will come good on the day.

Some talk above ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ on what sort of bike to do this on. Easy choice for me as I have only one...

If anyone missed out on a place and is from the north side of town our lovely friends Rapha are organising a
    'Hell of the North' ride
    http://www.rapha.cc/hell-of-the-north-iv

Not going to pour scorn on them as they employ people and if you don't like them you don't have to buy their stuff / lifestyle experience!?!

Personally I think I'll stick with the 'Heaven of the South' myself.

Good luck with the training and see you on the day.

Peace and love to each and every member of 'TEAM LFGSS',

    Tim

  • Hmm yes Tim you do not have to buy their stuff but you do not also need to call them lovely

  • Greetings Zebra,
Rasta love everyone, good or bad. That way babylon falls.
    Give thanks,
    Tim

  • Do it ficksed. Walking the hills is far less shameful than riding a cog swapper.

  • I live two miles from the start of the Rapha 'hell of the north' ride. Yet TLC feels more like home. I guess you might call that southern hospitality. I just hope we have the same weather as last year. And fixed ftw, just wouldn't be as much fun with gears. I conquered canonbie.. The snaky road thro that estate was harder I thought.

  • ^the climb through the estate Elliot Bank is a doddle but the surface at the top is hilariously bad! Full sus MTB is the wise decision!

  • The wise decision would be going to the pub... Go for courageous, wise is for wimps!

  • I'm now not taking part due to a fractured finger, so have returned my registration. Pretty annoyed about it, but thats life!

  • Ah you can do it man, one finger is nothing.

  • Ah you can do it man, one finger is nothing.

yeah usually I'd agree but this particular finger needs to heal properly for the future of my musical career...

  • Oh yeah, don't risk if then.

  • Not sure if everyone has noticed, but the LFGSS hats are on sale. If everyone was wearing one it would make it a little easier to identify who's in Team LFGSS.... I got mine.

  • Might have to get the Jersey, the M might be a bit small but...

  • That would work too, but I can't drop fifty quid right now on something as frivolous as a jersey.. I need that money for drinks, meals in restaurants, handlebars and brake levers which I will never use, frames I don't need, toys doomed to destruction at the hands of my children, a slap up curry for lunch and a trip up The Shard ® this evening.

  • I fear that wearing an LFGSS cap (or any cycling cap, including any of the 10 or so I have) will significantly increase my dork ratings - some people can carry it off, but I think they make me look daft. I'd quite gladly wear a sharkpits shirt but, like Andrew, there are many other (mainly stupid) things that I need to spend money on.
