  • Real nice dbk

  • Hey dbk, nice bike.
is that a fairly new Athena group set? How is it to use? I'm thinking of building up a Mercian frame I have with Athena. It looks great.

  • lovely!

  • All sorts of lovliness on here. Pat's curly lugged number, that banger ^..^, the lugless ones up there ^ ... ^ somewhere ... Ted's track number is a legend...

I want to get the Mercian ride back on. We should Do This.

  • I'm up for that.......my centrepulls that I 'bought' from someone on another forum haven't turned up yet. I can't build it without them, as I'm hoping the cabling from the last build will work with no adjustments....
Love every one of them.....particularly yours, dbk.....good colour choice/combinations!

  • Thanks all.

The Athena group set was brand new last year & took a few 100 miles to run in. I've now done 2k+ and it still runs like a dream with only one minor adjustment.

    Cheers
    dbk

  • apologies for pisspoor pics terrible camera skills. Such a pleasure to ride this bike. It came with full campy but it was so warn out we changed it to shimano and stronglight

  • I also grew up in Derbyshire, therefore have always been jealous of Mercian owners, and spent many an hour playing on the frame building part of their website. BUT FINALLY I have just bought this from Hilary Stone.

I'm slightly giddy at the thought of getting it re-sprayed and build it up as a single speed.

  • nice frame, who is going to re-paint it for you?

  • I was going to get Armourtex in Hackney to do it. My housemate got her 1930's raleigh done and it looks really good.

  • i would suggest Mario Vaz if you wan to keep it in London. i would say powder coat can look gloopy and you may loose the nice details of the frame. Mario can also provide you with the mercian decals......and his price is about the same if not cheaper......

  • A snap of my Mercian track bike.
Changed a couple of things since this like more period correct wheels and i have a Campag chrome steel seatpost to attach and Campag Con denti pista pedals and its finally the way i've always wanted it.

  • Boooom!

  • needs red Airlites

I can still get them but they are too expensive and the guy laced crap rims to the hubs.

  • tbh i wouldn't worry. Your only going to sell it to me anyway and i i'll put some Miche on for tricks and freestyle.
