• I get this error in GC but it accepts Strava .fit .. not sure if that has carried all the data over.

  • Just been offered a Second hand stages gen 2 (DA9000) for 250. It's just out of warranty and the person selling (friend) has had no issues at all. Worth a punt for that money or too risky outside warranty?

Should note I don't anything super accurate (SRM e.g.) just want something to track my progression from injury

  • If it's a lower body injury are you not better off dual leg? I've seen second gen dual-sided vectors for £450 which would seem worth the benefit.

  • Also yes to Stages, if it's one that works and you keep it watertight ie a bit of grease over the battery casing, seems a decent price.

  • Yeah true, but running speedplays and not keen to go back to Look cleats

  • Quark or power2max spider based PM then.

  • Gah, part of me now wants a PowerTap hub for the commuter (MTB, non-disc, as many spokes as possible) so I can Strava All The Rides With Power!

Don't want to use one of the other PowerTap equipped bikes for the commute (have to carry too much stuff).

Might have to stick £50 a month in a savings pot until I've got enough.

  • Got Vector 3 pedals end of last year, have been great so far. Didn't really think about setting them up before I started using them, and soon after purchase I did an FTP and started training.

However, I noted that by default they are set to 172.5mm crank length and I only use 175mm, so I waited until my next FTP test and updated them prior to the test. The test itself was a pig and despite 4 weeks of really decent training, I've had to reassess my new threshold down(!). Did I just have a shit test or did updating to the correct crank length mean it/I was previously over-reading?

  • Having the wrong crank length will mean that your earlier power figures were overly high, albeit not by much. Doesn't mean you didn't have an off day as well though.

  • Also means you’ve been training at the higher level for a month. Was it ok or too hard? Did you recover well from the sessions?

  • .

  • If over reading then they would have been artificially hard i.e. easier, unfortunately. It was surprising to be hitting 5w/kg at the end of Base...

@danstuff think a bit of both. Even a few percent above where you think you are when above threshold is hard. Thanks for confirming. I have actually revise my threshold down a few watts.

  • You’re hitting 5 w/kg - is that FTP?

Which Cat are you racing in?

  • Yep FTP...I thought I was but unfortunately probably 5-10% below this. I did a v02 session this morning with the corrected pedal settings and actually it was ok, so maybe the difference wasn't as much as this.

Given the plan is to try road racing (Cat 2) instead TT's so working on short power and not really bothered about FTP. 1m and 5m bests are still woeful so until these improve I'm not expecting to stay 2nd come the end of the year!

  • That’s pretty awesome. Good luck!

  • Power2max have an app that can update the firmware on the NG & Eco. No issues here with the new firmware for the NG.

Looks like there is also an option to turn off auto zero...

  • More of a bottom bracket question, but will my Power2max S type in Rotor 3D24 which I use on my BSA 68mm frame also be compatible on a PF86 frame? I understand very little about BB standards

  • I just used that app to firmware update mine. Was successful, but now I'm getting 5sec drop outs every 30 mins or so. Wish I'd just left it alone!

  • SRAM Force or Rival 1 crank, Quarq Dzero spider a good solution?

  • Should be. Power2max would also be worth looking at. Whichever is currently cheaper IMO.
