• Almost changed my mind about Canyon due to that deal. Nope.

  • I ordered a bike from them once that was showing as "in stock, ready for immediate dispatch", then got an email a few days later with a delivery date 3 months into the future. They are a bit crap with updating their website with live stock info.

  • It continues...

    1. Get original email at time of order telling me to expect a further email confirming the order.
    2. No confirmation, so email Canyon enquiring
    3. Get email from Canyon telling me they're sold out (hence no confirmation email).
    4. Email Canyon to make sure they're not charging me, as amount still shows as a pending transaction on my account
    5. Get official cancellation email from Canyon
    6. Go and buy Powertap P1 from Sigma Sport
    7. Get email from Canyon stating that they've cocked up and my original order is still valid, and they will be sending the Vectors

I've emailed Canyon to cancel - I fully expect them to not actually cancel the order and for the Vectors to turn up in a few weeks (months).

  • If they turn up my Mrs might take them off your hands

  • You'll probably end up with a limits power meter.

  • dibs the free vectors

  • Just got the email from p2m - the NG prologue deal has matured

  • The Powertap P1 where a doddle to set up, my only complaint is the supplied cleats are a bit crap. No rubber grips like spd-sl, so ends up making them slippy. Do any other cleats fit them ?

Did the 8min FTP test on Trainer Road, and my l/r balance was L46% R54%. I'll check that on subsequent rides and see if anything is off with the pedals. If true I'm very glad I didn't buy a left only power meter

  • From what I've read, Look Keos do fit, but get mixed reviews.

  • I'm about to go for Power2Max an S-type with Rotor chainset.

I couldn't quiet understand that NG Prologue deal.

Does it mean that if you buy a S-type meter via the deal that you get an NG as well for only 299 euros? to keep?

    https://www.power2max.de/europe/en/?s=prologue&lang=en

  • Yes. If it's still a valid offer.

  • I think they must have ended the deal because I can't see anywhere on their site where to select getting the extra NG unit when I put an S-type in the shopping cart.

Oh well would have been nice to have another bike equiped also.

  • I got an email a while back saying the offer had sold out.

  • I got offered an upgrade from Type S for 500€. Not bad I suppose as I would get to keep the old one.

  • I thought it too good to be true, no such thing as a free lunch etc... Understood it to be maybe some sort of exchange thing whereby you send your other meter back once you've received the NG or something.

I do like the rechargeable port on the NG though.

What I like about the Power2max is that if you get the Rotor option then it is a modular system ie: cranks and unit can be separated if one or the other fails for some reason.

  • I'm selling 2 P2M classic Power meters over in classifieds.
They're great- but no longer compatible with gearing choices.

  • Yes, I saw that. However I need 175 cranks with a 110BCD.

  • Wasn't really aimed at you, just #spam.

  • Anyone got any experience with the 4iiii power meters? As a cheap step into the world of monitoring power they seem like a good shout (I run Ultegra 6800 could just swap out one side crank arm and they're cheap) but wonder about false economy given the price difference between them and the nearest competition.

  • My Garmin wasn't picking up any readings from my G3 Powertap last night. To be honest it was the first time I had used it in a few months and it's kept on the bike in the garage, which is often freezing. Is it reasonable to expect the (fairly new when last used) battery to have depleted in 2-3 months due to the cold weather, despite no usage?
Last time the battery was low, I got a warning on my Garmin...

I've been using a pack of Maxwell branded batteries, should I just buy the more expensive Duracell option?

  • Quite possibly. Cold does kill batteries.

  • The Etix squad are using 4iiii power meters this season so presumably they are up to scratch.
Problem with 4iiii as I see it is you have to buy from the US and if you want them to stick it onto your existing crank arm that's a faff as well so I guess your average consumer here would just plump for Stages.
I was following their progress from almost the begining but they are Shimano only so that's me out.

  • Yes, many a jump-sart on cold winter mornings.

  • Have there been any reviews of the shimano dura ace power meter yet?
