You're forgetting that FTP is the max power you can produce for 1h when you're nice and rested.
So you're ftp is correct, but fatigue stops you from hitting it. Thus you should keep your FTP set at the figure you could nail when you're rested and feeling good. ;)

True.
Still rather smash a climb after my current rest period is over. Just to see in the flesh so to speak.I did 3 X 8mins at 300w last night. Which should have been relatively easy. But after a biggish run the day before, it was agony on the legs.
Training is easy. Resting correctly is tricky.

My browser still does that.
But I now have a big phone.
It's predictive text is odd though -

My brother still does that.
But I now have a bingo phone.

My bothy still does that.

My old phone loved the word blowjob. Pretty sure I hadn't used that word so much. Kept me on my toes though.

Training is
easyhard. Resting correctly istrickyeven harder. No way could you call intervals easy but I agree tapering and resting is tricky. It's almost enough to put me off racing.

I have ordered a Pioneer PM, should have it in October. Interested to see what it is like.
-
• #5786
Well. Simple.
I only do Z5 intervals, 2x20, and long Z2 rides.
It's not hard to figure out which is next. I swim and run too. I still don't find it too difficult to plan.
But I never get the resting right.

Out of interest what was the choice for a pioneer?
So you can run groupset cranks? -
• #5788
They're mean to be very very good.

This was certainly a part of the decision making process, yes, but it's meant to be a good unit with some interesting data capture (if you get the head unit, which I haven't).
It was either this or the P1's, and I wanted to stay Speedplay, ultimately.

Yeah power pedals are silly. No one wants to run shitty pedals.
They do look nice the pioneer.

Make those magic 12W appear with an hour's effort...
I fail to see the point of this new metric, even after reading the blurb on it. It's just something WKO4 calculates, which like everyone else's "calculations" on here have proven, without testing, tend towards bullshit.

I think mFTP seems pretty accurate.
it still thinks I can do 350 for an hour. Which is a big lieuh huh.

My old phone loved the word blowjob. Pretty sure I hadn't used that word so much. Kept me on my toes though.
It learned it from search terms :-)

Yeah that's wrong right now. But i think it's due to the training I did before I left to race, then the fact I didn't ride anything but z1 and fatigued myself to beyond. Those on form workouts are still in the 90day calculation range.
I found a few more data spikes and that 350 figure has dropped to 343. So it's more reasonable. But it doesn't seem to take into account the 2 weeks I've not ridden a bike, which strikes me as odd.

that's what a coach is for. Any idiot can overtrain - I need someone to tell me to do less more than I need someone telling me to do more.

First rollers session with P2max today. I turned it on and it worked. That's about it (all you want from a PM really isn't it?) - does seem a lot smoother than Stages and much easier to measure a consistent effort.

FYI, I've given up zero-offsetting my P2M 90% of the time. I trust it to auto-zero correctly when coasting.

It's an interesting number I guess. Certainly could be correct. The deviation from tested ftp could be an indicator of fatigue.
But as I said I'm not the one crunching these numbers.
If I can't hold 95% of it up a 20min climb. I'm not using it. Simple. -
• #5799
wtf is mFTP? What will it tell me that FTP won't? Is it like HTML 5, or Back to the Future 2?
-
• #5800
It's just a
random number generatorsoftware calculated number for all those people who are too lazy to test their actual FTP.
I feel the same. I've held 310w for a large part of a climb with no serious Hr ramp. Felt confident I'd hold it for 20mins. But my legs blew. Too much training. So 292w may be right, but at the moment I'm at 280 due to high volume fatigue.
Aparently I climbed 529762997m in a day in june. It was a day I promised my visitors, would be flat. Sorry Dammit, TW2, and Crumbs. My bad.
I'm going back to TP. Ignorance is bliss.
