Fixed, no significant change in power before or after dropouts.

Looks like misfire on one leg cylinder. Check lung sparkplugs.

Factory reset head unit and try again?
Might just be Garmin having mega-lolz with you. Hopefully.

Speaking to Paligap, apparently the Garmin's Auto Calibrate is a bad thing and should be disabled. Particularly on 500s and a little bit on the 800s.

Garmin? When power device is recognised it should default to 1 sec recording, sometimes it slips off this back to the default "smart" recording. Also Wifi can apparently bugger with ANT+ signal.

Garmin kindly removed the option to turn auto zero off - on both the 500 and 800.
I have an ammusing email chain with them about this.

I never upgraded my 800 above 2.5 firmware, because if it ain't broke, don't 'fix' it is a good thing to live by.
-

I've rolled my 800 back to 2.5 (a few times) and have now removed Garmin Connect to stop it auto updating, pr***s.
Old firmware: http://www.gawisp.com/perry/agree.html

to stop it auto updating
I can't believe it does this. Bonkers. FFS Garmin, FFS.
-
• #4262
Hang on - an 800 won't let me turn off autozero? Fuck.
-
• #4263
Don't update it or roll back the firmware. I use 2.5.
-
• #4264
No idea what version of the firmware is on it until it arrives - bought BNIB from some dude on the TT forum. Hopefully he won't have tinkered with it.
-
• #4265
If it's newish it will be new firmware and you'll likely have to roll back. This thread contains all the info.

• #4266
Ok. Brace yourselves for a "where is this info, I hate this thing... waaaaaaa" post on Monday-ish

You're off the christmas card list.
Edit: you're back on. Congratulations

Rolling back the software is easy enough, it's just annoying. However, it is not nearly as annoying as realising that Garmin Connect has updated the software again.
-
• #4272
Uninstall Garmin Connect.
But software updates are usually a good thing as they fix known bugs.
-
• #4273
Usually, yes, but this is Garmin. They just swap the old bugs for new ones.

RE glitchy Powertap, it was fine for Monday's solid state turbo, but then dropped out a few times in the first third of last nights intervals before settling down. Weird.

what software/ website can I view my power balance? I know p2m isnt true left right power but on my first ride I was 46/54 at times
Fixed or freewheel Powertap? I assume you were actively punting power down when it was dropping?
