£450 - nothing to do with me BTW

One of my two eBay track Powertaps is dying. Odd as one was returning 3 digit offset values when zeroing using a Joule GPS and the other actual torque values, even though I bought them both at the same time, same make/model etc., but the other one is fine. I did ride it in the rain which probably hasn't helped, but after third hand chats to Paligap it shouldn't have made a difference.

WEnt to renew my TP premium. They've put the price up.
No wonder WKO4 will never exist, charging 119usd per annum for TP. No sensible busniess would bring out WKO for under 500usd.

It's shit too. I think I'm going to cancel my membership.

It doesn't do that much. I paid £40 for the year before I think. And it was good for that money. But I'm not going to pay £80.
I will just use an excel sheet to track future progression and plans.

I've signed up for one month to try it out as I start tracking power. First impressions are that it's pretty basic, but easy to use and I do really like the calendar function.
I guess that I can use Garmin Connect for the calendar function though and Golden Cheetah for the proper analytical stuff.
One question - I'm trying to get my head around the Performance Management Chart. Is it not really worth looking at until you've logged a few months worth of rides with power, due to CTL looking at long term load? Also, is PMC a training peaks only thing or do other programmes use it (other than WKO)?

The formula for PMC is widely available.
GC uses it. Strava uses something similar but not the same. Or just make your own excel sheet.
And yes as it's 42d rolling constant it need past data. Or you can insert a seed CTL number, as you have not never ridden before. So 0 CTL is not accurate.

This.

FYI got the code for 40% off TP premium. So will purchase it now.

One time use?

Got to get training again. Couldn't do this for 10min best effort right now, let alone in a race.

Weren't you saying 5 months ago you were putting out 5.5 wpkg?

If he's low 60's, that's correct - and last time I saw him he was far from fat.

Go here: http://www.gawisp.com/perry/agree.html get the correct firmware for your 800 (2.6?).
Rename the file to GUPDATE.GCD and then copy that to the Garmin folder on the device, when you turn it on it will ask if you wish to install a firmware version that is earlier than that currently on the device - say yes.
This worked perfectly for me, however it had to work repeatedly as roughly every 1 in 5 times I plugged the Garmin in it would update to the latest firmware, having decided on it's own that that is what I wanted.

It's a British Cycling gold member code, looks generic. I used it and got an annual sub for c.40 squids. I think I can remember it, wink wink, nudge nudge.
I like TP but def wouldn't pay full price. GC fries my head a bit and is really unwieldy to use.

Thanks mate, signed up for the year yesterday. I'm going to use TP in the main, but also download rides into GC too and try to make sense of it as I go.
It's been interesting riding with power so far. A real eye opener in terms of showing how often you back off when there's no need and brilliant for pacing.
Strong century today btw. Well done.

- second hand
- no idea, nor care what's old and what's new so long as it outputs accurate power values
