Do you use locite 243?
Always locite everything! -
• #2703
Hippy- I got mine from Sigma
Amey- as Skinny says, Loctite and torque wrench
-
• #2704
45nm I think
-

Amey:
That locknut is supposed to be 40-50nm. You wont get near that holding it in your hand using an adjustable spanner. You need to put the rotor tool in a vice and turn the crank itself. -

I clamped the crank arm and then used my big torque wrench which is a couple of feet long.

Oo-err

I actually did this today .. i.e. the method you said wouldn't work, with loctite .. if it survives the ride tomorrow (and possibly the week ahead) I'll try and get hold of a vice .. the nut that holds it together is mere 2 or 3mm, can it even take 50nm without stripping/breaking?
-
• #2709
In my experience, yes. Quite easily.
-
• #2710
Large diameter and a fine pitch thread. It can take it.

My boss is selling this if anyone is keen: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rotor-Power-Cranks-with-Q-rings-/131295787611?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item1e91d6ba5b

I'll ask him and get back to you. He is switching to Vectors for ease of use.
-
• #2714
Anyone had experience of sending their Powertap in for servicing?
If so, is total radio silence usual?
-
• #2715
Vectors are shit.
-
• #2716
How come? I like mine but have nothing to compare them to. No obvious faults dropouts or spikes etc.
-
• #2717
No, I didn't mean to bash them so hard. When they work they work fine and are accurate.
But man they love to brake. Plus the greese just won't stay in the axel. The pods are so fragile. The whole point is it's easy to swap, but it's not. Because they love to stop working for no reason.I mean they're fine when they work. But for what they cost, they're not as good as others in the same range.
-
• #2718
Yes.
Well, I send it in and then it's sent back. How much communication do you want?
-
• #2719
They're meant to contact you to say "it's totally FUBAR, that'll be £lots" before doing anything.
As they've now had it for five working days I'd have expected them to have pulled it out of the box and had a look at it.
But, that said, maybe they always run right up to the end of their 10 working day estimate, and do the work on the 10th day?

I wonder if my wheel has been pinched?

The theft and resulting chaos would explain the radio silence
-
• #2722
This is true. Another day of total silence from them.
-
• #2723
He was busy all day and out of office so couldn't answer my email .. this morning he said it went for £750 !!
Someone got a massive bargain. Soz dimi. (well unless you got them)
-
• #2724
Now he has to pay ebay/paypal fees, so he was better off selling them to me. Oh well. Thanks for checking.
