Yes. Definitely. The older Classic version is on sale too.

Pretty happy with Stages so far - especially since I only paid £400 odd. Stupidly easy to swap between bikes and has the added bonus that it works with the omniums on my track bike.

Huzzah. Need to get some new cranks for it to be happy with, and for familiarity and discountness was going to grab some SRAM S900s (rotors freak me out). Any reason why this isn't a good idea?

Rotor 3D (with 24mm axle) is perfectly fine and as good/easy as any cranks out there; maybe about 10% more effort to swap between bikes than Stages. Compatible with standard shimano BB which are about a tenner atm.
Is golden cheetah buggy as fuck on mac? Keeps crashing ..

They'll have to be rather old S900s - pre-2009 models. Other than that, no, not really.

• #2557
More than 10% I'd bet. I only have to undo-redo a single 8mm allen key bolt. Literally a 30s job.

Is golden cheetah buggy as fuck on mac?
Runs fine on mine, but I'm fucked if I have any clue what I'm meant to do with it.

With rotor there are 2 nuts 5mm (pinch) and 8mm (lock) but yes Stages is VERY simple.

I am about halfway with this book atm:
Its a pretty good guide; would recommend. Of course understanding power is no rocket science; the book explains the concept of power very well and outlines what to do with it and develop a training plan targeting weakness.

Nope, not those ones. That's why my P2Ms are all on Rotor cranks. Happily, they're the older black/grey versions, not the newer 80s Space Invader graphics versions.
-
• #2563
Definitely. I haven't regretted mine for a second. Hassle free.
-
• #2564
Mmm, I have a kindle file of that that I'll aim to read over the winter. Might buy the book, should make progress a bit easier.

Balls. Maybe I'll have to go rotor and just never look at how ugly my bike has become then.

• #2566
Which BB standard Tom? One advantage the 3D+ has is that it works with almost all of them, I have mine in a BSA shell.
-
• #2567
Standard British thread. Currently GXP on everything so thought sticking with SRAM would keep swapping super easy, but clearly not an option.

20 seconds with a rattle can and they'll just be black cranks

Stages.

The new graphics arent that bad Tom ..

Stages over P2M is crazy talk.
My rotor 3D, s-type P2M, osymetric chainring combo. Is a thing of true beauty.
..... Nah. It's uber ugly.

A mate of mine stages pm seems to show odd power levels.
He appears to be able to average higher watts on a climb than another heavier friend. While said heavier friend beats him on the 25min climb.
Not by much. But it's definitely off. Luckily he uses it for gauging climbing efforts. So it works for him. But a little more dollar, and he could have a far better P2M.
IMHO

Man that's a messy post.
I just meant the sustained effort of a hard climb seems to feck with a friends stages readings. Maybe he's s left legged climber.

Sounds like he needs to calibrate it properly. Or maybe work on his pedaling.
Running Powertap and stages side by side has produced marginal differences (literally 0.5%) and it seems to be coping well with spikes during bunch races on the track.
I'm very happy with power I can swap between all 4 bikes, especially given I paid £400 thanks to trade. P2m just not worth it for me, and doesn't afford me the ability to have power at the track, which is where I do 80% of my racing.
I've been very happy with mine, once I got it working with the Garmin. It's not missed a beat in over 1500 miles of riding.
