I'll let you know, hopefully not that soon.

Got it off with some inner tube and a black and decker workmate. I can't believe they made it a different size to any of the 4 options on my headset wrench.

Stages have an Android app for their meter

The rim that came on my powertap is a bit tired, so I'm planning to finally get round to building a 'best' wheelset with powertap and something else at the front laced to Archetype. User manual says 2x lacing on NDS because of the way the hub works, is there anything else worth knowing?
-
• #2307
Only that unless it's the latest G3 model, Powertap wheels are a mahoosive PITA to build due to the hub geometry. If it's not a G3 then consider going 2x on the NDS and 1x on the DS.

Possibly a stupid question, but what's the hard bit? Because of low internal flange making it a bitch to thread the spokes or something else?
They don't take sapim cx ray either, do they?

You end up with horrible balance of DS/NDS spoke tension.
-

This. Because of the hub geometry, and the fact that the DS flange is so close to the centre of the hub, the DS spokes are virtually vertical. As a result the NDS spokes are at less than 50% of the tension of the DS spokes. Might be worth doing 2x on the NDS and 1s on the DS.
Never had any problem with CX-Rays on my Powertaps. Got two built up with CX-Rays at the moment, and a third in progress.

Are there any p2m users here who regularly swap between bikes? How much wrenching is required?
-
• #2313
Partly depends on the cranks you use, but it will be quicker to swap the cranks over completely.
I was going to swap regularly but, given how much time it'll take me, including swapping the chain rings, I'm not going to bother much.
-
• #2314
Mmm. I guess stages is hands down the easiest to swap..

(Not inc powertap)

Yes, I do, almost every other day! I swap my rotor 3d P2M between my club run bike and my crit bike for each training ride / crit! (I usually race at least once a week, usually 2-3 times). Takes all of 5 mins, and one of the major selling points of this system. (That and my crit bike had a BSA BB).

That was partly what attracted me to Stages. I'd have bought one if they'd solved their supply problem.
I think Chris (daccordi) has a P2M and has swapped it between bikes, so get his view.

Swapping a full BSA chainset over is no more onerous. It's the same number of things to loosen and tighten. In fact the 3d P2M is more simple as it only has one pinch bolt, and you don't have to flip that annoying little tab washer out (assuming Shimano Stages that is).

• #2319
No, sram cranks. Just one bolt to undo/redo.

Rotors are a bit of a turn off - proprietary, expensive and not brilliantly reliable bb's

I'll give you the 2nd one. Proprietary BB? Only the 3d24 track. The others can use any brand of BB you care to buy. I use a 7900 one with mine, faultless.
Is yours BB30 or GXP?

I'll be swapping my SRM from the Time Machine to the Cross bike ahead of the Summer CX series.
I anticipate swapping the chainrings being the task that takes the longest of anything - both bikes have Rotor 3D cranks, so it'll be undo, slide out, slide in, do up.
EDIT to add: Time Machine is BSA, CX is BB30.

• #2323
Ah, my mistake. Previous Rotor experience was with a pair of the 24's and the BSA adaptor bb they make, so i was locked into their not-particularly-reliable bb system.
If you can use shimano BB's that's ok. -

I was swapping my rotor crank between road bike and cross bike all through the winter, a couple of times a week, takes 5 mins. That was using a torque wrench too to make sure everything was done up right. I wasn't changing chain rings over though as was using the cross bike with road rings. This winter I'm going to do cross again so will change the chain rings too, reckon it will be another 5mins so not too much hastle.

Ah cheers.
Stages is still looking pretty appealing now they've solved their supply issues though..
when do you need it? Asap?
