• I guess one problem here would be changing under load and shifting gear early in preparation for sharp changes in gradient?

  • Di2 will shift under heavy load- might make an unpleasant noise but you'll be in the new gear.

  • What ever happened to WKO 4?

  • It wasn't ready at all.
And they don't want to release without copywriting the knowledge in it too i believe.

  • I see.

    I just wish they'd make 3 faster.

  • Back on a bike with power for the first time since autumn, is good.

They also DMCA'd a sports scientist's Youtube who thought their super duper new FTP estimating algorithms were kind of not super duper.

  • There's confidence in your product

  • I didn't realise they were so scared if Golden Cheetah.

  • The two things snake oil salesmen can't stand are other snake oil salesmen and scientists.

  • To be fair to snake oil salesmen not many people like scientists- they always stick to my fridge.

  • ^^But mostly other snake oil salesmen, as they're not constrained by the professional integrity displayed by the majority of scientists.

I think you're thinking of magnets.

  • Since returning from altitude my 20minute peak power has increased by 16%. There are too many variables to credit all of that gain to the altitude, especially since I only started using a PM a couple of months before my trip so I'm not 100% confident in my earlier values (mainly due to me being soft), but, since coming back I've beaten my previous best 20min peak power numbers on four successive rides culminating in last night's TT.

    Fun times!

  • Good stuff Ewan.

Anyone know if I can rent some Vectors for a week from anywhere?

Going on a cycling break where you use their bikes and (as the trip includes an ascent of Ventoux) I'd like a powermeter if possible.

  • My FTP has been creeping up since installing the P2M. I put this mostly down to having a tool for better pacing.

Still think the 5 second peak power is more fun.

  • ^^ if the time machine was my size I'd happily offer a swap for a week ;) alas, it's about a millionty times too big!

Did my first FTP test in about 2 months last night 2 watts down (so basically the same given accuracy levels) on last time but 4kg lighter = win.

I really need a new turbo, my current one is literally loud enough to wake the dead during the test, I feel bad for my neighbours...

  • My FTP is currently set to 277w.
I'm doing a big climb on Sunday (Dalsnibbe, Geiranger, 1500m over 21km). I really wanted to make 95mins. This would involve a average power of 268w though. I have a feeling that if I set off at 270w. At some point leg Death will occur.

Basically I need to lose weight.

  • I suspect you are going to kill me this year on the climb, so I'm popping over to France to test myself up Ventoux early next month.

I should probably run up it after the cycle, to do a complete test.

  • I only started using a PM a couple of months before my trip so I'm not 100% confident in my earlier values

That's called training and likely has nothing to do with altitude.

Its all relative. I'm in better shape than I have been for a decade. Both running and cycling. But I'm just not a fast athlete in either.

I will try and talk the guys into running up after the ride. But I dont think any of us will fancey 3 hrs of calf pain. Such a silly idea.

  • I suspect you are going to kill me this year on the climb.

Also my Styrkeprøven training involves riding behind anyone or anything going the same way. So I'll be on your wheel regardless.

Its the OPLQ school of bike racing.

  • 24th of March 2013 vs. 24th March 2014
    Year: 2013 / 2014
    TSB: -9.2 / -29.4
    ATL: 107 / 86.2
    CTL: 99 / 57.5

Now bear in mind I've only had power again since I picked up the Time Machine - I've not had a bike with a meter since I took the SystemSix apart after ROTFL.

So the TSB is going to be wrong, as is the CTL - is there anything I can take from the PMC that's going to be useful right now?

How long will I need to give it before it becomes accurate?

  • Merlin has stages in stock FYI
