  • I've used that before actually, I liked it but found I left powder everywhere! I could probably have been more careful though.

  • Plus I already reek of patchouli from my lush deodorant. If I start smelling of patchouli and sage I'm going to have to start listening to Grateful Dead. It's a balancing act between smelling like a teenage boy and a dirty hippie.

  • Thinking of trying Nuud, if anyone has a referral code?

  • The Grateful Dead aren't your only option, you could delve into the back catalogue of Ozric Tentacles, go with the twisted fuckery of Shpongle, or if you need to vent, a bit of crusty/anarcho punk, all go very well with patchouli and sage.

  • I'm playing a gig with some crusty bands at The Birds Nest in Deptford in a few weeks. The sound guy there was (is?) in Ozric Tentacles and loves blasting his own stuff between sets. Ticks all the boxes.

  • I don’t have one, but been using for 8 months now. Took a couple of weeks to get used to, but it’s great. Every 2-3 days if working hard, 5 days plus if more chilled. Still on my first tube! The applicator thing is useful.

  • Ooh, get you!
Still listen to Ozrics, they really do float my boat, but they have become more of a vehicle for Ed's guitar wankery. Seems to be a bit of a family band at the moment, Ed, Brandi, and Silas, then some other random member plucked from the street, maybe that's the Deptford sound guy.

  • First experienced Ozrik Tentacles together with the Magic Mushroom band at one of the infamous Brickhill/Aspley Guise Woods parties in 1987/88.

Blotter and mushroom juice and copious amounts of Hash.

    Love the smell of Patchouli!

  • Ha. I know our Deptford friend of old after playing many a gig at the Nest. We're currently back on acceptably amicable terms after he pissed me off royally by recommending a brown bean cure for a friend with terminal cancer. He is indeed the well-known ex-flautist and his predilection for playing his own tracks in the breaks continues unabated. Tis a funny old world.

  • Have woken up a few times recently with insanely itchy armpits. Had to get up and take a shower. No idea why this has started happening? Think I’ll try nuud

  • Always sworn by Pit Rock. Stick lasts about 5 years.

  • Thanks they had pit rock in boots so trying it today . Got the spray one.

  • What’s a good “natural” deodorant (not anti perspirant)? I’ve smelt a few on other folk that have smelt good but have never asked what they were.

  • I really like aromaco from Lush. It just smells of patchouli so depends if you're in to that or not.

  • Thanks. I’ll give it a look.

  • It's a bit pricey but lasts for ages. I'm not sure if they still do it but Lush used to offer samples for you to try bits before you buy. If you do try it, I recommend keeping it in a pot or some tupperware to stop it drying out and going like a bit of old parmesan. It's also much nicer and easier to apply whilst you're still damp from a shower.

  • Anyone else tried Nuud's new formula? Not sure it's an improvement right now.

  • I like Aromaco too but it really depends how much you like patchouli. I've switched to AKT which is a bit anti-perspirant but not massively so. They have a few smells, I like the turquoise one best, also like the grey one.

  • Anyone else tried Nuud's new formula?

No, I bought a 4 pack at the start of the year and have just about finished 1 of them so I'll be well into 2025 before I need more.

  • My wife has been disappointed by the new formula not lasting at all well. I still have the older one.

  • It's a lot thinner right? Certainly the new one I have is much thinner and runnier than the last

  • A lot thinner and more liquid

  • Yeah OK. Definitely not as good. I didn't realise it was a new formula

  • They seem to be in a funny spot. They're very committed publicly to this new formula, claiming to care a lot about the sensitivity of a small group of people in France (??)

But if you message them about it expressing dissatisfaction, they basically refund you right away.

Interested to hear of any alternatives with similar simplicity and effectiveness to the first version.

  • started using mitchum roll-on last year and won’t ever change off it. it’s a miracle product imo
