  • We're trying to plan a ride for Friday the 4th (from Ilkley) and some activities (boozing / rollapoluza / eating) somewhere in the evening. Any suggestions?

  • If anyone watching in town wants a better view, better/cheaper beer and a hog roast...
    https://www.lfgss.com/thread129679.html

  • so the flat still empty, some guys who were interested haven't materialised but i'd rather someone from lfgss got to see the tour that otherwise couldn't, just bung me whatever you can afford if you're interested - empty now

I've ridden past that pub many a time, will make a great viewing spot. Bet you'll need to be there dead early though i reckon.

Would join but I'll be stuck in a campervan with TTM driving back from Yorkshire!

  • Half day off! Probably going to watch it come down the A104 into Leyton, look out for a really poncey red Fred Perry/Wiggo shirt (it was a freebie)

  • Is the opening ceremony being screened on TV today? Couldn't find anything in the listings.

  • is it online? I'm at work doing nothing.

  • BBC headline just now:

"The city of Leeds goes continental as it plans to host almost two hundred cyclists"

    LOL.

  • ha!

Cycle out of Ilkley to Bolton Abbey,(tea stop in Cavendish Pavillion) then on to Burnsall. The Red Lion there is awesome for eats and beer, and the whole route is spectacularly beautiful.

  • If you decide to do this ride, I'll give you the 'proper' route.

  • Im now planning on doing green park on saturday from 1-2ish

  • I'm driving up tomorrow...

How likely am i to be able to drive to and park at either Harewood House on Saturday or Luci's Corner on Sunday (or both).

just speaking from what i can see out of the office window in harrogate highly unlikely. Harrogate is full gridlock and it's only thursday!

  • :)

Harrogate is gridlocked through the centre most days of the week!

I'll be staying in Leeds and won't have bikes so will need to get around by car. I have no issue with mobilising at dawn if that is what is required.

** When will the roads close? **

Full road closures will be in operation whilst the race takes place and a list affected areas will be communicated widely by official agencies soon. Details are still being finalised however some further information can be found **[here](http://letour.yorkshire.com/road-closures)**.

All advice is to choose your spot and enjoy the day! Harewood is lucky enough to have a full weekend of events and activities planned. You can join us as a spectator for free or you can be part of the Festival of Cycling. Full details are available on the Festival of Cycling website

                                                                                                                                            **

    **

**How do I access Harewood if the roads are closed? **

Despite road closures there will still be access to Harewood. There will be diversions in place from all major access routes for people to follow. We can’t predict how many cars may be following diversions on July 5th so we do recommend an early start to ensure you don’t miss the action.

If you don’t fancy breakfast here and want to join us later in the afternoon, the A659 from Wetherby will be open all day with some restrictions. Parking will be available in nearby fields with pedestrian access to Harewood from Harewood Avenue. Please note a £10 parking charge will be in place. If you have not pre-booked your parking please note it is cash only on the day.

                                                                                                                                            **

    **

**Is it free to park? **

There is a £10 charge to help control the volume of cars during that weekend. It is an unprecedented event in Yorkshire. Welcome to Yorkshire estimate that Le Grand Depart may attract up to 3 million people along the route. Parking can be pre-booked via the Festival of Cycling or purchased on the day. Please note that parking purchased on the day will be cash only.

For this reason the parking charge at Harewood applies to all spectators including Harewood Members who have not purchased a ticket to the Festival of Cycling.
If you are camping at the Festival, if you’ve entered a participation event or if you have booked a hospitality package, your car parking charge is included within you booking. Passes will be sent out to you in the post.
Please note: camping has now sold out. No more pitches are available

There is parking at Harewood House, if you book. I'm driving there Saturday and apparently Harewood are keeping a road open. Still, get there EARLY!
Road access to Luci's Corner will be very difficult. The roads are all very narrow, and sometimes congested even on good days. I'm guessing getting around by car will be impossible, unless you get there 4am, park on a side road and kip for a bit in the car. The thing is, you won't be able to gt away for hours afterwards.
No chance of slinging a bike in the car just to get around locally?

How tall are you? I can lend a bike.

Where are you staying in Leeds?

  • I could bring a bike but the missus is coming up with me and there's almost no way she'd cycle the distance needed to get to either place.

  • Soul, drive to our campsite on Sunday morning and ride to Luci's corner with us. It's near Keighley. Borrow a bike from Luci, or take one up with you. Roads will be clear that way and it'll be much simpler. You've got my number, right?

  • Ah, I've just read your post properly. Oops. I believe that Luci's corner is 14.8 miles from the campsite, so a round trip would be 30 miles with a long rest in the middle...
