I always found Contador a more exiting rider.
And he's done it again! ;P

^^^^I think when the gap was a couple of mins they thought he'd make it back on... then he stopped for about 5 mins and looked like quitting, then continued.
Either way, if he gets fit again he can go for stages. Not that I can see that happening but you never know.
It's almost been a victory for Garmin today anyway, the pathos, the suffering, riding over the line with the broom wagon hovering behind him.

Garmin's best finisher today was Slagter, nearly 15 minutes back.
What the fuck was their plan for the day all about? They've had a shockingly poor Tour, even allowing for Talansky's crash.
They left the secret weapon at home. David Millar.

• #3330
Although you may argue that it is no secret that Millar is a weapon.

ILacking Dan Martin and Ryder...
-
• #3332
Did they have a 'road captain'? Whatever else people may think about him, Millar does have plenty of experience.
-
• #3333
Simon Yates rode to the line with Joaquim Rodriguez, who is his favourite rider. I hope he got the chance to have a chat.
-
• #3334
Purito "stop drafting me you little cunt"
Yates "I only wanted to chat..."

Plenty of experience but no real form all season. Still, shame he isn't there. Garmin's Tour is burning, no wonder they were exhorting Talansky to finish, hoping he can recover at some stage and salvage something. Poor bastard.

Tomorrow looks like a less severe (in profile) version of today.
Degenkolb territory perhaps if the Sagannondale mountain express is knackered/sulking.

“It's a strange situation because I was in a good situation for winning. But when I was at the front with Kwiatkowski, Gallopin and Rogers, nobody wanted to work with me. They know it's hard to beat me in a sprint. Rogers attacked, then Kwiatkowski… I can't look after everyone. I was hoping to win for my girlfriend's birthday but I got the flowers with the green jersey so I've got something to offer her. I'm confident. I'll try my best. I'm sick of coming second. But it's difficult every day. Everybody knows me."
Bless! Poor lad.

I got more bored than i expected on rest day and the weather's terrible. And you never know, maybe I'll hone a talent for meaningless, seedy and verbose postings on the internet? Oh, wait...
-
• #3340
Yeah me too, I actually had to do some work. My boss is on holiday too.

Rogers could have got on the podium and kwakers could have gained time. I can't believe they didn't ride with Sagan.
Meh.
Ride to win.

• #3342
That whinging yank is still bloody riding...
-
• #3343
Can't believe some Frenchies are winning stuff. New drugs?
-
• #3344
Gallopin's win today might be the best so far this year. Really enjoyed that. Chapfuckingeau!
-
• #3345
He deserved it after that descent. Great riding.
-
• #3346
Saganwagon sooking on the podium again is he?

yesterday evening on tv Gallopin explained how his escape could succeed: he knew the roads well, especially the not-so-easy last climb that was uncategorised/not in the roadbook and the following descent into the final stretch. course knowledge ftw!
Blimey I thought they were going all out for slagter. wtf happened there?
