  • And why do commentators still keep pronouncing Fuglsang as "Fulgsang"? If you look closely, the L is actually AFTER the G. Sillies.

I think it might mean "birdsong".

  • and 'until they get to the mountains'... what would Jensie call stages on Sunday & Monday??

Probably, closely related to the German surname "Vogelsang".

The Vosges are 'middle mountains'. :)

  • Wikipedia opted for the term 'low mountains'.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vosges

  • I know them quite well, did the 3 Ballons a couple of weeks ago :-) Those are hard stages, in which I wouldn't expect very different winners and GC changes from those in the Alps or Pyrenees.

  • I think Brailsford is putting on a bit of a brave face

  • Jens Voigt can fuck off. It's a bike race, not a fucking parade round France.

Seriously, the sooner the "I didn't see nothing, gov, honest" doping apologist leaves the sport the better.

  • Stop prevaricating andyp. Tell us how you really feel.

    Shut up, Jens!

Related to the non-existent English name "Fowlsong".

It's pronounced something like 'fool-sang' and yes, it means Birdsong and is probably related to Vogelsang.

  • Could Cannondale drive the pace for Sagan knowing Kittel and other sprinters might not get over the final peaks with the bunch?

Definitely, although there's a few stages next week which are more Sagan friendly too. Ulrika Greenedge have missed today's break, so I think they are likely to assist Cannondale in trying to get rid of the likes of Kittel, Greipel et al in today's stage and set it up for Gerrans.

  • Gerrans still seems to be suffering from his crash and Sagan took a battering yesterday. I fancy Kwiatkowski today.

  • Renshaw might actually get a shot at the top spot...

Did Sagan drop yesterday too? I saw that pic above but didnt realise he took a fall? And still came 5th. Soldier.

  • I'm not sure these two hills are severe enough to split up the peloton today, so it might just come down to a regular sprint anyway. Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday's stages are all better suited to getting rid of the likes of Kittel and Greipel.

  • I expected that the length of the stage, the weather and the brutality of the earlier stages will make the climbs more selective. If some sprinters get over them Kristoff could be a good shout.

  • Is there nothing he can't do on a bike?

Just the very last climb I think, which kicks to 7.9%

  • What happened between Reza and Coquard after the finish yesterday?

  • Reza executed the perfect lead out, unfortunately Coquard wasn't on his wheel.

  • Looks like Coquard lost his wheel?

  • Hey, Bryan, maybe you try harder next time, oui?
