  • They are his original words, he was given a chance to explain what he meant which JonD has quoted. To be honest I don't think Cav could have even half a crack at expressing himself if he was interviewed by a Norwegian newspaper

  • ^^Some other thread. Any other thread. Just spare us the nonsense>>>>>>>>

  • Christ. How many kms do they have to race on that for?
Also why all the animosity towards Chris Froome. Is he not very well liked?

LFGSS is Wiggo territory. Belgians >>> Kenyans ya know.

  • I don't think anyone, regardless of their views on Froome, wishes that he lose the Tour through a random crash.

Oh I reckon there might be someone...

  • Not a great advert for Canyon Bikes right there....

Without knowing what the failure was you may as well be blaming aliens.

  • Can anyone help with some insight on why Sagan doesn't need the same kind of lead out train as other sprinters? Obvs he doesn't seem to win as many as Kittel/Gripel but he's always in the mix but often flying solo. How does he manage it? Tactics plus strength and youth, or is there another component I'm missing?

    Other people's trains.

  • Kristoff is full of shit. No-one crashes on purpose, and looked how badly he fucked himself up. Cav has been winning TdF stages for years and doesn't go down unless he can't avoid it. Kristoff is a relative newcomer, sorry but those sound like fucking stupid things to say, hoping something is lost in translation because he took down Gerrans and even he was loathe to apportion blame to Cav. Even though Cav admitted guilt.

If those words are his, Kristoff is a cunt, end of, and I quite liked him up until now. A journalist should ask him to list the times he thinks Cav has done that exactly, crashed on purpose.

Sorry, someone upthread was accusing anyone who criticized Cav's fuckup of not really understanding real racing etc. It somehow got under my skin. Even if it were true (which I don't think it is) it still is the type of argument-based-on-qualifications-not-logic that I can't stand.

  • Tommy V show is over.
I wonder if he's got a bonus clause in his contract for every minute of TV time he gets dangling 100m off the front and looking fucked.

    He's paid per gurn.

  • Catastrophic failures can happen at any time.
I need the Hincapie gif now, to send to the Movistar riders. Do you think their Service Course in Pamplona is seeing scenes of frantic rebadging of some old Pinarellos, and getting the van ready to drive through the night to Lille?

    Wasn't Hincapie's after a crash? Anything could've happened to Exhausti's bike beforehand.

Actually, isn't he riding away from a crash?

  • Kristoff shot his mouth off, poor show.

    Sprinter in engaging-mouth-before-brain shocker!

    Nowayhansrey!

  • Lots of people seem to be talking about carnage tomorrow. Starting to worry there may be talks of neutralisation if the rain is bad.

  • Pah.. it's only a little bit of cobbles. They made it over 3 days of British roads ffs

  • Sorry Cav. :P

  • The Daily Mail article is junk. Ignore it Jimmy and take few deep breathes :-)

  • Yep that steerer tube went

I think people are suggesting mechanic just didn't tighten stem up properly. :o$ (Comments)

  • Nah, I don't see that. If he just pulled the bars off the stem (as insinuated in the comment on the link) he (or someone else) would have noticed it was that loose much sooner. Plus (if I'm not mistaken) he had is weight forward, out of the saddle, when it went.

  • Here's my 'smug git' post.

Ended up watching the start in Green Park, walked over to the course with 60k to go and met some lovely 'merican ladies at the 1k to go banner. Blown away by the speed of the lead out trains as they shot past.

Decided to try run over to the podium, no dice, packed full of people and got told off for climbing on some banners.

Found ourselves over by the team busses, just hoping to glimpse some bikes. Low and behold we get kettled in because the caravan is moving out. 'Oh wait, isn't that Degenkolb?' We'd ended up at the spot the riders transferred into some normal coaches to get to the airport so a stream of riders later and I'd taken my first photos of the day, on my phone, from 6 feet away.

Oh, and I shook Jensie's hand, which was awesome.

  • Gerro's backwards all-fours slide would be funny otherwise...
