  • My snaps from The Mall. Highlight (and biggest cheer of the day), was Chrissie B & The Segways. I DAS'ed him.

  • Actually, I tell a lie: the biggest cheer was for a well-known flogger of fried potatoes

  • Who doesn't love chips?

  • One of the highlight for me was the lady opposite getting a Yorshire Tea box right in the face. She wasn't overly impressed. Advertisement fail.

  • Surprised more eyes werent taken out by random free tat boomerangs. Those cars were zipping by me at close to 40mph!

I'm pretty sure one of the amateur models strapped to an Emirates float (or something like that) aimed directly at a friends face with a fistful of key chains. It was kind of hilarious.

  • Should TfL bosses have taken £6million from the cycling (safety) budget to spend on Tour de France promotional work? Would it be acceptable for the Highways Agency to sponsor Formula 1?

  • Didn't manage to get any decent pictures as the best camera I have is an iPhone, but spent a lovely day in Moreton near Ongar at a family friends' house watching the Tour for the first time

Was half-cut by the time they got to us, didn't get a bidon but I did get a free Skoda bucket hat, which (naturally) filled me with deep, deep joy

Onwards to France! Allez allez etc.

  • Managed to score a polka dot cap which i was chuffed about! Brought out the kid in tons of men in suits!

Somehow this video makes Froome look cool. Fancy TTing through the tunnel Hippy?

  • Bonjour mes amis,

Well just to echo all the great posts.... What a top day yesterday and what a great weekend ... I went to Green Park to watch the start on le screen grand. It was good atmosphere. Met some forum royalty there - Big Daddy Wayne looking for the CS Grupetta peleton - always a pleasure... The MA3K - lovely to chat to you John...

Stayed there for a couple of hours then wandered down to the Mall to see the finish line and all the crowds building. Then rushed to Cannon Street to see them come in. Got a front row spot and it was 6 or 7 deep by the time they all rolled in.

Now then cycling is for everyone, not just the elite riders, so having seen lots of riders following the cars, I thought well if you can't beat 'em... So off I rode along the route and got all the way to Parliament Square until the high viz crew put a stop to that.

Then headed to Condor to get the result and have a chat... Then rode over Waterloo Bridge on way home with all the team cars heading south, so gave it the big 'Allez Allez'

    What a great day!

    Peace and love to all,
    Tim

  • Andy Schleck out

  • Greg LeMond and his pal on LeMond on Tour are the worst presenting partnership since Sam Fox and the chap from Fleetwood Mac hosted the Brits

  • England was great and all, but it's good to be back in belle France.

  • Salut,

My fave quote from the whole weekend was from the Sunday Times...

'Even the appearance of Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister, could not dampen the enthusiasm of the crowds'

    A bientot,
    Tim

Of course I'd love to race through the tunnel. I think I've even mentioned it before as an alternative to waiting for the ferry for cycle touring in France. But obviously I don't have the cash and advertising shit that Jag do.

I could be the first man to cycle on the moon if I had enough cash to fund it...

  • Nice work Tim sounds like it was all happening down at Green Park!

I saw a few le tour vehicles stuck in gridlock traffic on the way home down commercial road too.

Think maybe Tunnel operators are missing a trick here. Ride the tunnel for a nominal fee, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I'd want a TT bike to do it on, full gas.

  • I would fucking LOVE to tour France by riding through the tunnel.

Should have sent the peloton through it.

  • Why did Andy Schleck fall off his bike? I only saw him on the ground afterwards but don't actually know what happened to make him be there in the first place. Didn't see any other riders nearby as he was getting up and it didn't look like a corner. What happened?

  • Spectator perhaps? There were quite a lot of those falls on the stages....

  • Sky dude hit a ped who was too far out taking photos with his SLR, ped stumbled took down Ted King and Andy I think.

Sky rider clips dickhead spectator, following riders brake to avoid, Schleck is too schlow to brake, hits wheel, down.
