  • “Nacer has a deep wound in the lip and a hand trauma,” the race doctor told French television, according to ASO. “He’s staying with us until the end of the stage and then going to hospital for further checks.”

FDJ sport director Frank Pineau added: “there is nothing serious.”

Bouhanni won Monday’s 195km stage 1 in a field sprint and was awarded the yellow jersey. The race ends Sunday.

FDJ confirmed on Tuesday evening that Bouhanni had suffered two broken teeth and received eight stitches for cuts to his upper lip.

“X-rays revealed no fractures or even a cracked rib, as we feared. He will be back on his bike this weekend,” said team doctor Gérard Guillaume.

  • Ah man I'm shitting my pants excited for T>A.
Let's see whos got game. Contador will be on it.

Paris-Nice is a bit lame. We'll untill it gets to the hills.
Monday was exciting with the big split in the crosswind.

  • I'm reading no Wiggo in Tirreno ? Thought he was using this as part of his Giro build up ?

  • Wiggo isn't there.

  • Eugh, this Bouhanni stuff makes me shiver. I had my first high speed crash in August and was lucky to walk away almost completely unscathed. Even so, every single ride since, even commuting, I have a vision of me biting the pavement. Really hope it clears up when I start training properly again in April because right now I start to feel queasy when I get above 35kph on the flats, let alone hills.

  • Bouhanni's crash shows the danger of road marking. His back wheel just washed out as he touched a line on the road. Ouchie.

Strange that Wiggins is doing so little racing. A cameo in Oman, now he's doing nothing until the Volta y Catalunya, with the team sending Porte to go for overall at P-N

Maybe he's aiming to peak for July instead :)

  • Saving his powder for Giro/Tour double while Froome wears himself out? :)

Just watched it. Looked like he went in too hot. It wasn't the line that got him.

  • I have a theory he's, Wiggo, gone off the rails again.

  • Hmm slow mo.. maybe it was the white line. He seemed to be gaining on guy in front though so moving too fast

He should let me handle his belgian beer collection..

It looks to me he was going in hot. but not too hot. He's on the outside of a team mate and as such tried to reduce the angle of turn to avoid smashing the curb..

Basically he leaned. And bike went from under him.

  • No LEAN!!!

  • Amateur

  • Will they ever learn?

  • In the interests of safety all cycling racing will now be conducted in one direction only here:

  • "Saving his powder for Giro/Tour double while Froome wears himself out? :) "

Pending on success in Giro d'Italia and then Tour de France of course, I recon his whole season is secretly planned around potentially going for the Vuelta and all... same as Contador.

  • The triple? Would be a great thing to pull off.

  • Saving his powder for Giro/Tour double while Froome wears himself out? :)

This maybe. Sky went in last year trying to get the team used to winning and Wiggins used to being in yellow for long periods. Perhaps they reckon he's used to it now and are instead trying the same exercise with Froome, but personally I'd like him (Wiggins) to at least lay down a marker for the season. He's gone all Andy Schleck

  • Hmm slow mo.. maybe it was the white line. He seemed to be gaining on guy in front though so moving too fast

He seemed to be as hot as everyone else, and leaniing, but his line was wider and the bike seemed to go as he went over what looked a thick, slightly raised white line.

And you know what they say about white lines

  • "...personally I'd like him (Wiggins) to at least lay down a marker for the season. He's gone all Andy Schleck."
    ^This.

  • "...And you know what they say about white lines."

White lines are not to be sniffed at!
