This. For a course like that you want a big front ring, so you can smash the whole ride on 58x11
FTFY, this is Martin we're talking about
Which is basically bollocks because he has no idea about either rider's aerozzzz.
I assumed he meant all other things being equal.

58x14 is 32.4mph (circa) @ 100rpm
;)
-
• #3581
Doesn't Tony Martin usually TT at around 80rpm though? And 58x11 at 33mph is... 80rpm.
-
• #3582
Commentators stated he was at 86 rpm iirc. How they new that, I don't know.
-
• #3583
Cancellara *looks * fat.
He's not unlike hippy in that respect.
-
• #3584
Such bonkers numbers from de Panzerwagon, he's an outlier, a complete freak of machine-like turbo diesel power
-
• #3585
Shame for Wiggins but as he acknowledged he was completely outclassed. Lucky for him he was injured last year else he wouldn't have won the Olympic gold, just a beast on the flat.

Not digging at you, just calling bollocks on Hutch 'eyeballing' wattages.

You watch tv and a watch and count pedal strokes. #rocketscience

Based on their commentary as a whole I would take anything they say with a pinch of salt.

Dowsett in very poor form at this stage of the season
He's been I'll recently, plus he clearly planned to peak for the giro and (as has been discussed ad nauseam in the wake of Horner beating Nibali) it's nigh on impossible to achieve a double peak in a single season now.

He's a decent time triallist, not a GC rider. Of course he can have more than one peak.

3 though? Looked like his second was at the nat champs..
-
• #3593
Well in his post ride interview he looked and sounded like he was very disappointed. It's a one off TT and it's the Worlds, you would expect better from a specialist like him
-
• #3594
Meh - it was a bad day after a disrupted build up. The best he could have hoped for was top 5, and if you are off the podium no one cares where you came anyway.
Winning a TT in a grand tour made Dowsett's year, so he didn't really have to do much else.

Talk on Twitter that Wiggins' Hed 3 was on the wrong way round. Could it have cost him the gold? Probably not, but a bit of error from Team Sky...
-
• #3596
Portes looked the same. No valve hole on drive side.
Would make no difference.

All the Russian team's bikes were stolen from their hotel overnight.

Ha, and I thought that sort of thing only happened to Jan Ullrich ... would be very surprising if it was true.
