Bike storage at Herne Hill

Tom here ... and congrats to the other Tom. Glad to hear the volunteers are working through the lists. It's a complex job to maintain all the spaces as bikes get moved around and this isn't recorded. I made a start on tracking the bikes last year and hope someone else can build from the info I gathered. Shame I couldn't finish the job but a new job and some family stuff means different priorities this year. Hope to still train at the track, when the weather sorts itself out ...

The waiting list for spaces was pretty long when I last saw it.

As for emails, I was away for much of December so apologies for slow response to those. I replied to all once I got back and the new arrangements were agreed. Though some were along the lines of "I'd like to store my bike at the track, can I bring my bike along next week?" so people may have ended up a bit grumpy as that wasn't possible.

And for parking, you can park in Gallery Road for free all day and that's a short (track bike) ride away from HH.

I don't know if I'm on the list but could probably be taken off as I've been given keys for my girlfriends parents house 100yards from HH and will be leaving my bike there instead.

If you store your bike at the track don't ignore this. If you haven't paid, contacted them or removed your bike it might get 'impounded'

As I am VCL and got and email saying that we have the benefit of free bike storage at HH I didn't worry :)

I've dropped them an e-mail but doesn't sound like I'll have much luck getting a space any time soon!

I've been doing the Saturdays on hire bikes and I'm looking at getting my own bike and starting the Monday/Wednesday nights. I can only make it in time if I get the train from work straight there so if there's no storage available, that'll throw a massive spanner in the works!

Real bike racers have cars.

It's very true. The amount of kit you need is difficult to take by bike, plus limiting yourself to comps only at HH is…well, limiting.

not to mention if you want to be serious about tt's/rr's..
