  • not in the position to say sorry,
but thanks for this link from the post you made! theres some great stuff on here to read and learn from,
    an outdoor track,

  • These plans have now been approved!

  • Yay!

  • Amazing!

  • Great news!

  • Finally!!! Better start building track season starts in 3 months...

  • This will hopefully be my first season of track :)

  • Supposedly there were conditions placed on the approval but I don't know what they are. They already tendered the work and agreed with a contractor on the terms, and so are ready to start the project quickly (presuming of course the conditions don't preclude that).
The intention was to be done for the Good Friday Meeting, though that's not certain given the delay in approval. Might also depend on the weather.

  • Regular sessions won't be too heavily affects by building in the inside will they?

  • Wooo! Are we all systems go for 27/3, then?

  • ^^ I was told they don't expect the works to disrupt the sessions.

  • Very good!

  • The reality though may be different. I suspect they will be moving building materials, machinery, trucks, etc. across the track to get to the centre, likely dragging dirt, rubble and more fun onto the surface. When we rode in late December, the mud left by the kids' tyres as they rode dirt bikes across the track to the centre made the tarmac a little slippery.

  • Weekend training is expected to start first week of March, allowing people to train for Good Friday. Evening training should start first week of April - the same starting times as in previous years. The lights probably won't be ready in time to extend the training schedule until the other side of summer, so the calendar might be extended later in 2013, but won't be able to start any earlier.

In other words, training should start in a months time! Full details and ongoing work update will be www.hernehillvelodrome.com soon.

    do you mean this?

The council has advised us that if the plans are approved, there will be a condition controlling the times and frequency the lights will be in operation. This is yet to be agreed with Southwark Council but we envisage that this will be in line with other local facilities, with a "lights out" time of around 9.30pm or 10pm.

  • Good news, and here it is the official announcement from the 'sponsors':

Note the use of quotation marks and italics, before anyone jumps down my throat.

  • What does this mean for the usage of the velodrome site for cyclocross races in the future? Will the lighting and new track mean that the infield and the area around the perimeter fence are no longer usable for cross?

  • Well considering there will be another track on the inside I doubt there will be much/as much space for CX.

  • Really? Fuck me, hadn't thought of that.

  • Will there be enough space though? Or does my long held ambition to bring cross back to Crystal Palace Park need to be actioned sooner rather than later?

  • there should still be space for cross on the infield, my concern is with the perimeter.

Of course if we lose HH as a venue, they lose me and my company matched donations to the JC and chums drinking fund friends of HH

  • What does this mean for the usage of the velodrome site for cyclocross races in the future?

Hopefully relocation to somewhere suitable which will enable the velodrome to function as a velodrome.

  • Don't forget LVLVP will have purpose built "best in the world" facilities where CX can be held soon. It's another venue to consider.

Shame about scratching the wood, but why should anyone care about that?
