  • thought it couldn't be you

  • You should really be su-su-sumio

  • poor.

  • but worth a try.

  • I sold a Banksy print on eBay - minutes before the auction ended a friend offered to buy said print . I contact winning bid( who already paid via pay pal ) I am sorry but print had been sold. I foolishly arranged a bank transfer instead of PayPal.

The winner then reported me for not sending the print - long story short I had to pay him back again. Even when I produced paper work from my bank tracking the payment to his bank account.

eBay will alway back the buyer.

    Spot on.

  • Well, cyclists, salt of the earth aren't they? wouldn't hurt a fly!

You have their address and name. Make a claim through MCOL to get your money back.

  • ^ tbbh darwin, timing of decision not to sell was 'a little' off?

  • just to be clear, do people think this is a common problem, or an an occasional nightmare? I'm new to selling stuff on ebay and getting a little skittish...

  • well I have had to relist 3 items 2 times within the last 4 weeks, because auction winners didn't pay or didn't even have the decency to respond. according to ebay, you may not hint in that direction by saying 'do not bid if you do not plan to buy this item'. when you do that, you get this notice:

    "Attention Sellers:
A listing may not include statements that discourage bidding activity.

For example, you cannot say things like:

Find out more about our selling practices policy.

“Don’t bid if you do not agree with my terms”

This kind of information is unprofessional and may discourage good buying activity on your item.

Please edit your listing, making sure there's no mention of these words or something similar. If there is, you won't be able to list your item. This could also negatively impact your ability to participate in the Top-rated seller program.

Find out more about our selling practices policy."

    ebay is run by cnuts.

  • ebay is run by cnuts.

i had the 'pleasure' of interaction with some of the 'people' who 'run' ebay from their marketing and finance offices when i lived in Switz - all cnuts.

  • I currently have a wheelset (a particularly valuable and rare one at that) which i won for a very good price (well that remains to be seen when i have them in the flesh....) which despite winning and paying within 24h the seller is repeatedly making excuses why he has not "had time" or not "been able" to post..
2 weeks down the line the seller has been very poor at communicating and has offered a refund if i think that the timescale and postage delay is unacceptable.
What he cant seem to comprehend is that i just want my funcking wheelset, not my money back!
Is there a way i can approach this seller/ebay and basically say look, send me the bloody wheels and stop pissing about?
I have been very patient with the seller so far as i dont want to risk him cancelling the sale and refunding me when as expressed, i want those wheels!!
Seller is based in the US and i have actually managed to track down his home address and telephone number.........

    Any thoughts/suggestions?

  • He wanted more money and is trying to get out of it so he can relist. I hate ebay

  • my thoughts exactly, ive been in conversation with the guy for over a month and a half now, and he has told me many a time he was looking for $450 for the wheelset, despite us managing to agree a sum of $300 before he went and told me he'd got them sold.
He then went and relisted them and i won them for $258!

Now he's telling me he has an inconceivable amount of work, that he "doesnt expect me to understand" and cant "get round" to posting yet...

....he promised they would be shipped on friday and clearly they are not.

I hate weak fuckers that cant just grow some balls and talk to you and offer the courtesy that you deserve. nothing irritates me more than a lack of simple communication and keeping people updated.

  • What baffles the absolute FUUUUCK out of me more than anything is that he has listed these wheels consecutively week in week out for approximately 3 months now and noone EVER bid on them or showed any interest in them apart from me.

Now he has actually managed to sell them (the reserve was actually $258) and probably has the money withdrawn into his bank account its likr he doesnt want to part with them at all.

My thoughts exactly with the reserve price - i would have paid upwards of $400 for them! i even offered him that amount, he didn't respond, so i won the auction for $258 + $75 p&p AND NOW I WANT MY FUCKING WHEELS!!!!

  • As you have his home address, offer to send a courier round to pick up the wheels?

  • just get your refund and get out of there

  • ^ this, good advice

it takes a more than humanly possible amount of patience to deal with some buyers/sellers/ebay themselves

  • nothing irritates me more than a lack of simple communication and keeping people updated.

    no 1 irritation factor indeed!!

sadly, this happens so many times... I offered a frameset to the 2nd highest bidder after the winner (credits even though it's bullshit to bid on something you don't want or can't pay) informed me he would not be buying the item with 5 hours to go. no response from bidder 2, even after 3 messages from my side asking 'please, are you interested or not?'. offered it to bidder 3, guess what? not a peep. relisted... again... fuckers.

not even mentioning the curtness/lack of common friendliness in messages. some people just love to be anonymous

  • Ahh the irony of it all:
    "Hello Richard,
I got a quote at my local shipper to ship to your location and the cheapest rate is $150 and at that price they can not provide a tracking number. I know that's not the $75 quoted by the calculator in ebay but there is no way that it can be shipped for less than $150 an I am actually losing money on this deal due to ebay fees on top of this. it would be another $75 in shipping if you still would like to complete the transaction. I have packed it as safely as I can in the smallest box possible. Please let me know what you would like to do."

  • just get your refund and get out of there

    This^^^^

  • Is there a way i can approach this seller/ebay and basically say look, send me the bloody wheels and stop pissing about?
Apply to the court to make an order for specific performance (of the contract).

  • I went for the refund option - No Tita-Ace Rims but no Bullshit either.

  • shipping wheels from us with tracking is 30 bucks.

  • This isn't a scam, but as there's general eBay bitching in here too... seller's fees have just risen to 10%: http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/news/springupdate2013/springfeesimplification.html#feesataglance
