This thread has made me ask the question:

Do you guys use Mame?

It is basically an Arcade Emulator, that plays the rom file from actual arcade cabinet jamma boards. So you actually play the game as intended (controller permitting).

This is quite legal as the owners of the roms have released them into the public domain.

I've used loads of emulators to replay some old favourites (pure nostalgia, which I'm normally not that prone to). MAME didn't interest me that much as I never really played arcade games and when I did mostly didn't enjoy them.

It was the amazing... A real helicopter you could fly around and hover and pick stuff up (as long as it was placed on the circumference of the helicopter)

Had the full set of Planet toys. My folks would never get me any TMNT or Thundercats, but happily got me all Captain Planet kit. Go figure. Had their solar powered yellow plane too.
