I’ve been thinking recently I’d like to build something like a mash cx but they seem pretty scarce, especially in the larger (56/58) size I’d be looking for so what other options are out there for a sscx frame with the following,
Aluminium (might consider carbon)
Rim brake
Not pure bread cx so creature comforts like bottle cage bosses, all day geometryOr should I look for something more like a Zydeco which I could ss with an eccentric bb?

Tricross - original fork has mid mounts.
Plug CX if it has mounts (after looking it looks like at least some have mounts) -

Assuming you want horizontal dropouts and not using a tensioner, otherwise you have many options

Definitely don’t want to run a tensioner.
Eccentric bb or maybe an Eno hub I could do though.

I went through a phase of really liking the way the Tricross looks but right now I’m on not loving it so much. I think it’s the stock fork, too chunky.

the trek crockett springs to mind

The man with the ability to build any bike he pleases wants recommendations for something off the peg.
Just build a frame from large diameter zona, don’t use any fancy wishbone stuff, put a 44mm ht on it and use a carbon fork. Less than 300 quid and you built it yourself.

Then spend the money you saved on Dugast tubulars

And some 200 quid Chinese carbon wheels to add some explodey excitement to the mix

You don't get this quality of advice on bikeradar

Lol. You’re probably right. I mean I chucked my orange bike from Bespoked back together recently and it’s pretty much a fixed cx bike. I could easily add brake posts to the frame and repaint it and it’d be sscx.
Think I just need to get out and ride the bikes I already have.

Anyone actually ridden a belt drive in muddy conditions? Can't imagine it works well with slop/"uk gravel" but could be wrong.
It does look good...

Love that bike, but belt drives are an attack on our freedom
-

I thought this until I rode a belt drive. Now I realise they are amazing

You sound so surprised

I haven't been paying attention, I thought you only posted gear boxes and 36ers

Tempted to edit the photo now

What are the advantages? Other than being low maintenance? (not being snippy, genuinely interested).

You get to cut your bike in half and buy a £70 chain that isn't an Izumi Super Toughness

It's ok @youramericanlover . You can use belts on fixed gear bikes too
Sadly several sizes too small :(
