Tthat's so buff.
Do you know the colour code for that yellow? -
• #405
when I bought it from charinco they just googled "yellow" for me and sent the first google image jpg as they did not have a picture of the frame.. so no, hehe!
I think it is pretty close to new york taxi color? That should be somewhere available.

South London too, some of the VCL members organised a late summer league with 4 races this past summer and plan to extend it next summer I believe.

Oooh I fancy taking up croos now. Was thinking that this winter was a no as I am totally too busy but if it's on in the summer....
To be honest it's the getting very muddy which appeals to me the most so summer cross might be a bit of an anticlimax.

You could cover yourself in mud after the race- maybe make a wallow?
-

How much difference to knobblies make in the snow? Dom said that someone told him they grooves just fill up with packed snow and then they are pretty much the same as slicks
-
• #412
maybe in somekind of worst case scenario, but from my experience they got way more grip. They use knobblies in mud too and mud is about the same as snow in filling up the grooves I think.

Good to know, I can't wait for the snow so I can get some chunky tyres wrapped round my wheels

I'm pretty sure you'd be better off by swapping your tires, back to front.
More thread = more grip = front. ... I'm guessing.
Brilliant bike nonetheless. -

The problem with the knobblies is that they have a very small contact patches on ice so you will be nursing it around when that comes.
What you want is a medium between slicks and knobs. Preferebly slick in the middle of the tyre and knobs on the sides. Schwalbe CX Comp, Hurricane and maybe SmartSam would be better than massively knobbed tyres. Ofcourse there are other tyres but you get the idea.
comes in 42c
comes in 30c -

The most important is a reeeally low pressure when riding on snowy conditions.

Brilliant bike nonetheless.that 38mm knobby is pretty much the maximum you can fit on the rear of a gangsta. too bad! 2" both would be perfect.

^^True but riding in the winter often involves potholes and curbs hiding the the snow, so best to keep the pressure at above snakebite territory. (obviously)

I've been cycling for 2 winters now on 26"x1.9 Continentals, on the 26er.
Not much thread, but regardless, Snow + Brakless = bruises. -

You forget leaning.
-
• #423
No one can forget leaning when you're around.
I've heard there's to be a new cycle safety campaign this winter around london. A face on the back of all the busses simply saying "don't lean", who's face though....

Actually who am I kidding, the british summertime is very wet and muddy.
What happens is it gets all dry in september making very hard ground for the rugby season and the removal of skin from all elbows and knees.

Lean your bike, not your body. Kinda like opposite of superbike riders as they exit corners (if that makes sense).
Summer leagues!? ... Envy.
Wish I could do CX AND Track in the summer.
