There's an race locally between christmas and new year. Going to probably haul my 1x1 out and have a go on that. No idea what the course is like but probably fairly flat and not taking things too seriously.
Is it worth gearing up a bit from my usual ssmtb ratio 34x19 (~50gi on 27.5x2.4") to avoid spinny frustration rather than srs gainz or just leave it and see how things work out...

I've been on 34x17 this season and find it about right. Towards the end of races I find it hard spinning up the small gear and would much rather grind a hard gear on the flat

Sven's bike will be mass consumption. Soon.

My SSCX by Ponc:

• #3665
Sweet, who's Ponc?
-
• #3666
Cool. I think I have a 17t cog knocking around, if not I'm probably too lazy to change anything and will just suck up spinning.

He's an italian frame builder situated in a small village near Milan.

Is it Macc supercross?
-
• #3669
Yes

If they're using the same course as last year, Queens park, then part of the lap is hilly, steepish grass climb, that can be very muddy depending on weather, round a large tree, thendownhill, round a couple of bends, then back uphill. Be careful near the pits, off camber grass onto tarmac path, quite a few came off there last year.
Will ask at lbs what gearing they ran, think at least 2 of the lads have done it for the past couple of years. -
• #3671
Cool. Used to sliding round in the mud on slick tyres, should be fine on 2.4 knobblies :)
-
• #3672
That's a beautiful bike. I love the rear dropouts too. Are they custom made?
-
• #3673
I got them from this site:

Got a frame on the way with a BB30 shell.
Is there a difference between 24mm eccentrics for BB30 shells and 24mm eccentrics for PF30 shells?
-
• #3675
Yes. The only thing BB30 and PF30 have in common is the cranks they can take. Sometimes that isn't even true. Welcome to the world of unnecessary BB standards :)
