  • Don't just listen to me though, I'm just pack fodder in the V40s these days. @Jon. is racing week in, week out on singlespeed and is currently ranked 8th in the UK, so it can work well.

  • Wouldn't a chain tensioner be the simplest (although aesthetically poorest) solution?

  • Are you not racing on your Polish custom build anymore?

It cracked around the seat collar, been intended to send it back to Rychtarski for the last six months but haven't got around to it.

Any thoughts on eccentric PF30 bottom brackets for running single speed?

The Spesh has a dedicated EBB, it's been trouble free thus far, and adjustable without removing the non-driveside crank. I suppose the converters are slightly different in operation as the tightening bolts are not on the frame itself.

  • @Zdrenka has long time experience.

  • No chain tensioner can handle the forces involved with CX.

  • Nearly finished this :) need to get up to epping some time once I have 40c f+r. New wheels too just waiting on rotors to arrive

Spyres and compressionless are bloody good. Not quite hydraulics but close enough

  • You Sexy Thing (I Believe in Miracles)

  • which compressionless have you gone for?

  • That is bloody lovley!! Well done.

  • Yokozuna reaction. My LBS hooked me up as they stock it

  • Thanks :) I'll take some proper photos without the pump and saddlepack once the all black wheelset goes on

  • It's the only choice, work even better with single pivot calipers too.

  • Looks great! Did you consider going with direct mount chainring to save weight and roll down on overall tooth count while maintaining ratio?

  • I'd love a direct mount chainring but this build has already cost FAR too much so upgrades will only come once parts wear out. Eventually I'd like a Sram 1x11 setup with hydraulics, but thats a long way off. In the short/mid term I'll use 8 speed with a bar end shifter, already drilled some HM01s for internal routing for this

  • I wanted the ease of setup/fiddling of dual pivots. Spyres were simply undo bolt, pull brake, do up bolts, done. No rubbing from the off and plenty of power/modulation

  • That usually work, unless the mount isn't faced perfectly, or the pads is not sitting straight on the piston.

  • Probably my favourite bike on here atm, along with Doms field!

    What's the geo?

  • 95% sure this was the final sheet I sent Jacek. The geo changed a lot but I settled on a mix of road and cross, heavily inspired by @negaatio's own Orlo! Its very short and tall thanks to my long femurs and short torso
