  • Still struggling to find a 130bcd 38 tooth chainring for ss purposes. Can anyone recommend anything?

    Ta.

  • Surly

  • Big bucks tho, like black too, wanted a Thorn but no stock.

  • If you can manage 39t, take the Shimano one.
    Amazon.com : Shimano Tiagra 4500 39t 130mm 9-Speed Chainring : Bike Chainrings And Accessories : Sports & Outdoors
It's available in black too. I have a black one on my Surly. It works.

  • 230mm

tentatives on it when the time comes?

  • monday? (maybe tomorrow/friday) I'd be happy with 170 notes; another tenner and i'll throw in the 105 front brake I had to buy as my steel forks are long drop

    I used one of these

  • Cheers muchly for the options.

I had seen the sram one and thought it might work, given there is no ramps on it.

This is now off bike; you keen loin?

  • Ok so here's my dilemma, I bought this cheap Gazelle Cross Trophy frame on an impulse without fully reading the add. Turns out it had a front end shunt at some point, as you can see from the picture the tyre is almost touching the downtube and there is a small crease in it. My idea for this project was a cheap SSCX racer, built mainly from the parts bin. My question is, if I were to buy different forks with greater clearance would this work ok? Or do you think the geometry be too far gone to be a rideable?

  • No way I'd ride that get some second hand forks a new frame, I wouldn't ride a crashed frame on the road, let alone off road., unless of course you don't like your teeth

  • Not legit at all.

Are the forks the ones invovled in the crash? They can probably be sorted at a framebuilder for £20. The frame goes in a skip (sadly).

  • Or a tube replacement.

  • Would you need to replace the toptube aswell?

  • Burn it with fire.

Regarding this, the steeper head angle would make the steering extremely
nimble, like can't keep the bike in a straight line while getting out of the saddle nimble.

So even if you're thinking about doing this, it would be inadvisable.

  • Cheers for all the advice fellas. I'm no expert on frames hence the questions...... So who's got a SSCX frame for sale? Or can anyone recommend a good starting point?

    Cheers

  • I do

That's a really nice bike. Thanks for the offer but I'm kinda of hoping to stick with canti brakes and the "vintage" theme

  • I think its at a stage where if you just add brake levers and chainring its a complete sscx; keen? See that pic ^ minus Di2; minus 6700 crankset but with rival cranks 110bcd (no chainrings); minus brake levers; minus saddle; minus pedals ..

  • Just out of curiosity... What's the price as is then?

  • £650 sounds fair?

Specs are Hope headset, hubs and V twin; Velocity A23 wheelset; 4130 frame with Kinesis CXD full carbon fork; Thomson finishing kit; Rival GXP cranks with BB; Marathon supreme tyres.

  • How much did it cost you? Sell it on!

  • not sure what do you mean
